The wizarding world of Hogwarts Legacy is home to numerous mythical creatures but the rarest of them all is the Phoenix. The open world RPG borrows the flame-feathered bird from the original world of Harry Potter – remember Dumbledore’s pet Phoenix, Fawkes? You can capture the bird and hold it as a prized possession in the Room of Requirement. In fact, Phoenix feathers are key to upgrading your gear in Hogwarts Legacy.Â
However, when it comes to the question of where and how to find a Phoenix, the task gets tougher. Just like the rare Graphorn, finding the singular Phoenix in Hogwarts Legacy demands you to complete certain side quests. This includes a side quest called Phoenix Rising which will lead you to the location of the mythical bird. Keep in mind that you cannot find the Phoenix in the Highlands unlike the other beasts in the game.Â
Reaching the Phoenix’s location in Hogwarts Legacy
Look to the far south of the World Map near the Poidsear Coast region and you’ll notice a Floo Flames location called Phoenix Mountain Cave. Keep track of the Phoenix Rising side mission from the Quests tab. Following the yellow dotted line on the map will lead you to the Phoenix’s location.Â

Once you enter Phoenix Mountain Cave, you will have to fight past spiders and poachers to confront the Phoenix and catch it. Make your way up to the mountain’s peak to catch the flying Phoenix. Here, the Phoenix will sit on a rock formation, and you can use your Nab-Sack to catch it and take it to the Room of Requirement.
Side missions to complete to get the Phoenix
While it’s possible to breed other beasts within Hogwarts Legacy, it is not possible in the case of the Phoenix. This is because there’s only one bird in the entire game and you cannot find it anywhere else. The first step to acquiring a Phoenix is to unlock the Room of Requirement, which happens after a few hours into the main story.Â
Next, complete the prerequisite main story missions called The Helm of Urtkot and The Elf, The Nab-Sack and the Loom. After this, complete all of the side missions you get from Deek and the last one in the list will be the Phoenix rising side quest.Â
How to get Phoenix Feathers from the Room of Requirement?
Finding and acquiring the rare bird is a special moment for Harry Potter fans. In fact, one of the books and the movies features the bird in its title – Order of the Phoenix. But it’s not just about the bragging rights. The Phoenix’s feathers are extremely potent and useful collectibles in Hogwarts Legacy.

- When it comes to upgrading your gear in Hogwarts Legacy to their fullest potential, Phoenix feathers are fundamental. In order to get these feathers, return to the Room of Requirement after you catch the Phoenix.
- Here, speaking to Deek will trigger the Phoenix to fly into its special vivarium. Head inside the vivarium and feed and groom the Phoenix.
- Once you’re done interacting with the Phoenix, you will receive a number of feathers from the bird. This process can be repeated at your own convenience to get as many feathers as you like.
Thanks to exciting missions like Phoenix Rising, Portkey Games’ Hogwarts Legacy has quickly become the biggest Harry Potter game launch of all time.
