Police authorities have found the body of the missing 4-year-old boy from South Boston. They discovered the body of Mohamed Abou Fofana, who went missing from a playground on Sunday. Massachusetts State announced Monday afternoon that they found the boy on Spectacle Island in Boston Harbor. They have informed the family of Mohamed Fofana about the tragic discovery following an extensive search.
A boat from the state police found Mohamed’s body around 12:29 PM. Soon, they confirmed it was the 4-year-old who had gone missing. The police are currently investigating what happened to the boy and how his disappearance led to his death. The US Coast Guard, state police, and the Boston police and fire departments actively participated in the search for the missing 4-year-old boy.

According to state police, the body of the missing 4-year-old boy from South Boston was discovered on the shore of Spectacle Island. The chief medical examiner’s office will analyze the body. The death investigation is being carried out by the state police detective unit for Suffolk County.

At first, state troopers thoroughly searched the area but couldn’t locate Mohamed. The authorities remained at the scene overnight and resumed the search on Monday morning. State police stated that they haven’t ruled out any possible reasons for his disappearance.
On Monday, the search efforts expanded across waters about 150 yards from Castle Island’s sea wall. Helicopters flew along the coastline from Deer Island to Hull while a drone searched the nearby shoreline. Ground searches continued in and around Castle Island, and detectives analyzed surveillance footage.
Mohamed Fofana’s disappearance and his mother’s plea
On Sunday evening, while playing at Castle Island Park, Mohamed went missing at around 7 PM, after which a relative called 911. Mohamed’s mother, Matenjay Fofana, shared that he had autism and could not speak. Due to his high energy levels, he had a tendency to wander off.
In an emotional plea on Monday morning, Matenjay Fofana asked the public for assistance in finding her son. Holding back tears, she requested that anyone who spots Mohamed either hand him over to the police or dial 911.
According to Matenjay Fofana, Mohamed was last seen with his grandfather and sister, who contacted her expressing concern about his whereabouts. She hurried to the park but couldn’t find him. Matenjay Fofana emphasized the urgent need to locate Mohamed, highlighting that he is incapable of taking care of himself.
