Allegedly, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a play is getting adapted as a new movie, here’s what we know so far about the original cast and more!
A film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child can be the unexpected part of your 2023 bingo card. The UK-based tabloid The Sun published a report stating Warner Bros. is considering adapting the play as a sequel. If the report is true, then you may soon see a new addition to the Wizarding World franchise.
- Previously, WB Studio put the project on hold due to the extensive work for the Fantastic Beasts franchise. However, according to reports, the project is back from cold storage following the play’s popularity in the West End.
- There have been three Fantastic Beasts movies until now. However, they haven’t been able to gain similar returns as the Harry Potter franchise. According to WION, the latest release in the franchise with the title Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, grossed $407 million. Considering their budget of $200 million plus the post-production cost, it was diminishing.
Fans hope for the Original Cast of the Harry Potter series
- Fans of the Harry Potter franchise are eager to have the original cast back if the new movie is added to the Harry Potter franchise. The source when prompted by The Sun over the same matter didn’t confirm the cast yet.Â
- They did express their awareness of fans’ desire to see Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson back on the screen. However, they will require a script to make an offer for the beloved stars to return to the Hogwarts grounds.
- Many actors and directors who worked on the franchise did return last year for a reunion episode. Which was released under the title Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts. This additionally sparks hope of seeing them together on the big screen as leads of Harry Potter again.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is written by Jack Thorne, based on an original story by J.K. Rowling. The two-part play takes place 19 years later the final book in the Harry Potter series- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Who is the Cursed Child?
- The play brings back familiar characters from Harry Potter, such as Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Draco Malfoy. Which glints the hope of seeing them in their characters once again.
- The play also introduces a new character, Albus’s best friend, Scorpius Malfoy, and the mysterious figure named “Cursed Child”. There are discussions of who the cursed child is with some claiming, Scorpius Malfoy but we will have to wait to see how it’s depicted for screen adaptation.
