All you need to know about the Final Fantasy Casino
The Golden Saucer Casino area of Final Fantasy XIV is every player’s dream. You will find it in the western continent, in the dead center of the Corel Desert. You will find a prison there and, above the prison, the casino where you can enjoy the attractions.
What is it and how do you use it? We explore the FFXIV Golden Saucer in greater detail, below.
What is the Gold Saucer?
The Gold Saucer is a casino that allows Final Fantasy online players to race each other across several fun games. It operates in the same way as PvP and raid/arena contests. You explore the area and choose from the attractions, then enter them as if you were waiting in a lobby. When everything is ready, you will race for MGP – Manderville Gold Saucer Points. You save these and spend them in the same way as you might use other coins to buy gear.
When you have enough points, you can use them to buy some interesting things from the shop. You will generate Gil while you race, too, although at a slower pace. You can buy Gil online, too. You can explore some of the Best places to buy Final Fantasy XIV Gil.
How to Get To It?
You must be level 15 or above to unlock this area of the game. You will need to pick up the quest from the Well-Heeled Youth in the Steps of Nald. You will find him in Ul’dah. Once you have completed this quest you can travel to the Corel Desert and back again. This lets you into the Gold Saucer casino to play games.
What are the Choices in Attractions?
There are a few attractions here you can choose from. There are three main types of events. A GATE, a mini-game, or a fashion report.
The Fashion Report section is where you choose an outfit based on chatting with the NPCs. Choose wisely to score the full 80.
Next there are GATEs, or Gold Saucer Active Time Events, which are games, rather than races.
GATEs include:
- The Slice is Right – where you dodge debris and collect coins
- Cliffhanger – where you run around and doge bombs
- Leap of Faith – where you run around but without the bombs
- Air Force One – where the game moves you along while you shoot
- Any Way The Wind Blows – Where the game tries to blow you off a ledge
Lastly come the Mini-Games. Here you can test your skills in Olympic-like events.
Mini games include:
- The Monster Toss – yup, you toss monsters.
- The Crystal Tower Strike – a test of timing
- The Finer Miner & Out on a Limb – where you mine as fast as you can
- Cuff-a-Curr – A test of your strength with big payouts
- The Moogle’s Paw – which pays out smaller amounts
The Gold Saucer Provides Great Rewards
Should you choose to keep collecting MGP, you will eventually unlock the many rewards this region of the map has to offer. Some of the rewards are pricey, but impressive. The Gold Paper Parasol will cost you 200,000 MGP but is one of the most stylish items in the game. You can even purchase the mini games as machines that you can then bring to your own place.
All in all, this was a unique development of an area which has been around for many incarnations of this game. Long may it continue to surprise us with new games.
