Minecraft has many unique things that make it the very special game it is. One among these is the Enchanting table and the table’s unique language.
The Text
- Players who have used the Enchanting table in Minecraft will have caught a glimpse of the cryptic text that it features. Players who have not will have to make one table to see for themselves. The alphabets used in the table come from the Standard Galactic Alphabet or SGA.
- It has 26 symbols representing the English alphabet. The language used in the table bears no resemblance to English. However, this does not mean that there is no way to understand this unique language.

However, the words in this language hold only representative values and result in random words and phrases when put together. The enchantments in this language do not directly translate into the enchantment in English. The non-English words are not the same. The Cthulu novels by HP Lovecraft are the source of these words. Whatever it may be, there is a way to translate the table language in Minecraft. Read on to find out how.
Translating the Text
To translate the Enchanting table, a translator app or translation chart can be used. However, it must be remembered that not all the words have an English meaning. Translation can be done manually or with an app.
- Take a screenshot of the table or phrase in-game
- Use an SGA chart, compare the alphabets in the screenshot and the chart, and manually translate the text OR
- Copy the text
- Pate the text in an online translator such as the LingoJam SGA translator. Most websites allow SGA to English and vice versa translations
- Moreover, when using the Minecraft Pocket Edition, use the Standard Galactic Alphabet, which is free on the Play Store and the App Store. You can enter, translate and copy text from the Enchanting Table
