Halo Infinite: How To Beat Bassus

Bassus is a Banished Brute with a gigantic Gravity Hammer in Halo Infinite. He will charge towards Master Chief throughout the battle. Players must move fast around the arena with an enhanced Grappleshot to avoid Bassus’ attacks. If players do not improve their Grappleshot, the boss battle will be considerably tougher. This is because the Grappleshot will take far too long to cool down each time it is used.

There are methods to slow him down, and this Bassus boss guide will show you how to destroy him as quickly and easily as possible in Halo Infinite.

How To Beat Bassus

Bassus is Halo Infinite’s second boss, and he can be difficult to beat without the appropriate strategy. Players should spend some time exploring Recovery and collecting Spartan Cores before undertaking Halo Infinite’s campaign, Excavation Site. In which, they must battle Bassus, who employs powerful melee attacks and moves rapidly.

  • As soon as the combat begins, Bassus will charge at Master Chief, and a few blows with the Gravity Hammer can be fatal. On a harsher difficulty setting, players could perish after just one hit. To win this boss fight, players must use the Grappleshot to toss Master Chief around the arena while hitting Bassus with long-range attacks.
  • Between avoiding his lethal melee attacks, players will need to hit Bassus regularly to reduce his shields. Bassus’ shields regenerate if too much time passes without him being struck, therefore players should strike him as much as they can, even if it’s just to keep his shields down.

  • Players can use explosives to decrease Bassus’ shields and health in addition to shooting him. After the shields have been depleted, players can continue shooting and grappling their way around to reduce Bassus’ health.
  • Bassus may take some time to kill due to the fight’s mechanics, but with a little patience and a lot of dodging, players may overcome the second Halo Infinite monster. Players will also gain access to an enhanced Grappleshot, a few grenades, and a strong weapon. Players can continue through the story after defeating Bassus to reach the next boss encounter in Halo Infinite.

  1. On legendary this fight is instant death. One thing I found is if you prepare for the fight with the Rockets and Skewer, but it does work with just the Skewer and a headshot weapon.

It took me probably 100 attempts and the method that did it for me was Skewer him as soon as he comes into view, it will play a stagger animation, then you grapple away and reload while bouncing with the grapples momentum to get as far away as possible. Fire again once he comes into view and rinse repeat until you run out of skewers and or rockets. Once his health is very low you can pop off two hats to land a headshot but I ended up having enough Skewer to kill him after landing a few BR hits. It’s important to just keep grappling away, preferably in a circle around the wall between the double doors at the top of the staircase.

  2. With a maxed grappleshot you can “stun” him when you target him directly. Use it with the grapples schokwave attack. Then i just hit him with a gravity hammer. Move back and repeat. You can shoot him if hes far enough (to make sure his shield don’t recharge). Don’t grapple him when he is about to attack or when hes jumping or you’ll be dead.

  3. This boss fight is just plain BAD, if you were not prepared you are totally screwed. You need to pick at least the right weapons, and ideally have the grapple shot upgraded to max. I’m playing on heroic and he often kills me in just 1 hit from full health, he is virtually impossible to escape unless you go into the back room and kit him around the ramps there but even then he will probably just warp to you the moment you get stuck and then you are dead again. My shield is upgraded 3/4 times and he still just destroys me instantly. Came into the fight with a BR and shotgun, grenades of all kinds. Grenades deal with his shield quickly, but will often result in you dying as he charges you so damn often, even with a grenade stuck to him he will charge you. This boss fight has to be fixed, the difficulty spike is insane. I don’t mind a hard fight, but this is not fair at all.

  4. So after playing through with Master Chief for a while I realized his Melee is pretty damaging(Master Chief). Often times I can drop a jackals shield and then drop him all together with only 2 hits total. Now after dying probably 15+ times on Heroic I managed to drop Bassus’ shield meter and get his health down to about half(Maybe half, it was all a blur after this next part). I found myself cornered by Bassus took a whack from him and figured there was no way out so I just started spamming the melee and it was somehow disrupting Bassus’ swing I think. He’s huge so I obviously couldn’t view it from 3rd person to really know what was going on but next thing I knew Big B is lying dead on the floor. So if you ever find yourself at close range with Bassus and still alive, try the old Melee spam and see where it takes you. I’m curious to know if it was just the right amount of health or if Master Chief’s melee is the perfect secret weapon.
