Is Yae Miko worth it? In Genshin Impact’s 2.5 Update, HoYoverse has introduced the newest 5-star addition to its character roster: Yae Miko. She was first introduced to travelers in Inazuma’s storyline, and from there, players have been anticipating when she would be playable.
With her banner finally going live last February 16, travelers have been wondering if Yae Miko is worth pulling for. Listed below are her strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully, this can help you decide whether or not pulling for Yae Miko is worth it.
STRENGTHS
- Yae Miko is an excellent sub-DPS for your team. Her Elemental Skill allows her to place three Sesshou Sakura, each one striking nearby opponents five times. The initial level for an individual Sesshou Sakura is 1. Linking them together not only boosts them to level 3, but the Sesshou Sakura can strike opponents a total of 15 times before disappearing.
- She deals continuous damage even off-field. While the Sesshou Sakura is in effect, you can switch to either a Hydro or Pyro DPS to maximize their Elemental Reactions with Electro.

- Her AoE DMG is incredible. It’s important to note that to maximize Yae Miko’s damage-dealing capabilities fully, you have to link the Sesshou Sakura with each other before using her Elemental Burst. Once it is in effect, the deployed Sesshou Sakura will transform into Tenko Thunderbolts that will deal with massive AoE Electro DMG depending on your build. This can help clear mobs easier.
WEAKNESSES
- For a catalyst user, the distance of Yae Miko’s Normal Attack is short. Unlike catalyst users like Yanfei and Ningguang, the range of Yae Miko’s NA is short, which is surprising because catalyst users can usually cast their NAs a good distance from the enemy.
- She is too squishy. Unless you have shield-generating characters in your team like Zhongli and Diona, you have to be good at dodging when using Yae Miko because of her low DEF stat. Some players speculate that this means she was made to really be an off-field sub-DPS.

- She will need an Electro battery in your team comp. Yae Miko’s Energy Recharge has been one of the most talked-about downsides to her character. Her Sesshou Sakura doesn’t generate enough energy particles to charge her Elemental Burst fully, so you should have an Electro battery (like Raiden Shogun, Fischl, or even Electro Traveler) in Yae Miko’s team comp.
- She doesn’t have a dedicated artifact set yet. Unlike other characters, there is no 4-piece artifact set that fits her. For now, 2-piece Thundering Fury and 2-piece Gladiator’s Finale are the most appropriate artifacts for her.
Having said all that, it’s expected that there are still some downsides to Yae Miko’s character.
Travelers can only hope HoYoverse will somehow buff her stats in the coming updates. Do you think she’s worth pulling for? Let us know in the comments below what you think about Yae Miko’s character.
