Elden Ring: God Devouring Serpent – How to Beat

The God-Devouring Serpent is a gigantic serpent found in Mt. Gelmir and is a boss in Elden Ring. It is not necessary to fight this boss in order to progress in Elden Ring.

The great serpent of Mt. Gelmir that swallowed Praetor Rykard. Attacks with poisonous spit, bites, and slams. – in-game description

Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy’s First Phase is God-Devouring Serpent. The God-Devouring Serpent, unlike most boss phases, has its own health bar that must be exhausted before proceeding to the Second Phase. You must defeat the serpent again if you die in his Second Phase as Rykard.

  • Lunging strikes and biting are the most common attacks of the Serpent. It can also knock you down repeatedly with its jaws as part of a special grab motion. This move only delivers damage once.
  • The Serpent will occasionally raise its head high and then bash its jaw into the floor, ejecting lava in a broad area. This attack can be evaded or blocked.
  • If you want to use the Serpent-Hunter, you should poke him frequently in between attacks.
  • Enough headshots will knock the Serpent out for a short time, giving you a much-needed break from strikes.
  • Those who are having trouble should activate the Mimic Tear summon and Godrick or Radahn’s Great Runes, which can considerably reduce the fight’s difficulty.

HOW TO BEAT GOD DEVOURING SERPENT

  • Each swing of the Serpent-Hunter unleashes a powerful energy blast that is specifically lethal to the God-Devouring Serpent. Charged right-trigger attacks do the most damage but cost a lot of stamina, whereas charged left-trigger attacks appear to cause the boss a lot of posture damage.

  • They come with a long wind-up motion that may expose you. You can also use two hands to boost the weapon’s damage output.

  • The God-Devouring Serpent attacks you with a limited set of two or three attacks, and success is mostly dependent on timing.
  • You should sprint to the left or right before an AOE attack, whereas direct assaults can be readily avoided by dodging right as the serpent’s head falls towards you.

The defeat of the boss causes a cutscene, which leads to an intriguing discovery and the start of the next round.
