To get to Dragonlord Placidusax, you have to go through the Crumbling Farum Azula. Make your way into the area until you reach the Site of Grace called Beside the Great Bridge. Afterwards, go down the elevator and go past the Gnolls until you reach the open area in front of the chapel. Approach the edge of the land you’re standing on and look down to see the floating rocky path.

Jump down and continue onto the rocky platforms until you reach the one with Beastmen graves. After you find the empty grave, interact with it to lie down. Then, you will be taken to where Dragonlord Placidusax is waiting for you.

Although Dragonlord Placidusax is one of the bigger bosses in Elden Ring, it’s fairly easy to defeat it and avoid its slow attacks.

How to defeat Dragonlord Placidusax

Because Dragonlord Placidusax is a large boss, its attack speed is slow and easy to dodge. The only thing players need to be mindful of is his AoE lightning and flame attacks.

Phase 1 Attacks

Physical Attacks
    • Jumping Attack – dodge forward once Dragonlord Placidusax slashes at you with its claws
    • Double Bite – this attack is easily dodge as the boss just bites twice at you. You can sneak in a few hits once it finishes attacking
    • Tail Swipe – if you are behind Dragonlord Placidusax, it will swipe its tail at you. Dodge into the tail to avoid this attack
    • Tail Smash and Swipe – if you are behind the boss again, it will smash its tail down on the ground and swipe at you. Dodge away from it to avoid getting hit by the two attacks
    • Wing Smash – dodge backwards to avoid this attack. Dragonlord Placidusax lifts its wing up before smashing it down on the ground. Afterwards, it lifts its wing up which can be counted as another attack

Red Lightning Attacks

    • Red Lightning – red lightning will strike down around you. Be mindful of the red circles and immediately dodge if you find yourself standing in one
    • Lightning Claws – giant red claws will slash at you. You can dodge either forward or to the right to avoid getting struck
    • Quick Claws – if you are in close proximity to Dragonlord Placidusax, it will roar before slashing at you with a Lightning Claw. Pay attention to its heads to anticipate its attack
    • Lightning Spear Explosion – it will stick a lightning spear into the ground before charging it up for an explosive attack. While Dragonlord Placidusax is charging up the Lightning Spear, move away from it as much as you can so you won’t get hit by the explosion. On the other hand, you can use your shield to block the damage if you can’t distance yourself enough

Flame Attacks

    • Side Flame – it will release a continuous flame if you are standing beside the boss. However, this attack cannot be dodged so you either run away from the attack or jump over its tail and stand at the other side of its body
    • Flamethrower – after Dragonlord Placidusax attacks you with Lightning Claws, it sets fire to an area in front of it. To avoid getting damaged, move behind the boss and wait until this attack finishes
    • Reposition and Flamethrower – Dragonlord Placidusax will leap in the air and reposition itself somewhere in the area. Afterwards, it will begin breathing flames at you. The only way to avoid this attack is by staying as far away from the boss as possible

Phase 2 Attacks

Surprise Swoop

Dragonlord Placidusax floats before disappearing. Be on the lookout as it will come charging at you. This attack is avoidable if you pay attention to the red lightning in the sky where the boss will emerge. Moreover, this attack is easily avoidable by dodging forward into the attack.

Apparating Claw Attack

A Lightning Claw will smash onto the ground after Dragonlord Placidusax appears out of nowhere again. Dodge diagonally forward to avoid this attack because Dragonlord Placidusax will smash its claw two times.

Rewards for defeating the boss

You are rewarded wtih 280,000 Runes and the Remembrance of the Dragonlord once you defeat this boss. The Remembrance can be traded for either the Dragon King’s Cragblade or Placidusax’s Ruin. Both items are equally good but we suggest you go for the one you think will help you on your Elden Ring journey.
