However, it is possible to increase the party size and take advantage of a few mods available outside the game to enhance your gaming experience as you immerse yourself in Baldur’s Gate 3. Without any further due, let’s dive into this step-by-step guide on how to install these mods.
How to Increase Party Size in Baldur’s Gate 3?
To increase the party size in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will need to modify a save file. It’s important to know that this might cause instability in your game, so please do it at your own risk. You would require the following two things:
- The main game. You can purchase and download it from its official Steam page found here.
- The Larian Export Tool
How to Install the Mod
If this is your first time installing mods for a game like Baldur’s Gate 3, there is no need to worry! Here are the steps on how to install and use Larian Export Tool. Follow our short but quick guide for a smooth installation.
- From the link given above, download and install the Larian Export Tool.
- Open ConverterApp.exe after downloading and installing the Larian Export Tool.
- Go to the fourth tab labeled “Story (OSI) tools.” Select the save file you want to edit in the area at the top.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Typically, the save file path looks like this: ‘AutoSave_8.lsv’
It is located in the following location: C:Users/YourUsername/Documents/Larian Studios/Baldur’s Gate 3/Player Profiles/Profile Name/Savegames/StoryAutoSave_8.lsv.
- Click the “Load” button after selecting the save file. You’ll notice a notification stating that the load was successful if the save file may be successfully modified.
Note: If the save is successful, you can move further with the change.Â
- The database editor may be found in the Larian Export Tool by scrolling to the bottom of the page. Find the database “DB_ORIGINS_MAXPARTYSIZE,” which must include a single item with the value “4″.
- Once you have located the “DB_ORIGINS_MAXPARTYSIZE” database, select the entry with a value of 4. Change this amount to the desired party size; a maximum of 8 people.
- Click the “Save” button found near the top of the Larian Export Tool after making your changes to the party size setting. Your modifications will be saved to the save file.
Note: We recommend not changing the value above 6, as even on a party size of 6, the game seems to lose its performance.
