The news may have hit you if you are an avid Ark Survival Evolved player – that Ark official servers are shutting down. This is amidst an ongoing postponing of Ark 2, the greatest jewel of Vin Diesel’s in-game avatar. The delaying of Ark 2 and the closing of Ark servers come with the release of an enhanced game version, titled Ark Survival Ascended – what is this hysteria all about?
What is the announcement regarding Ark 2 and Ark Survival Ascended?

- Studio Wildcard has announced that the release of Ark 2, the game featuring Vin Diesel in a dinosaur survival adventure, has been postponed to the end of 2024.
- The delay has been attributed to the need for additional development time to make the game the best it can be and to take full advantage of Unreal Engine 5, the latest technology.
- In an effort to appease disappointed fans, Studio Wildcard has also revealed plans for a remastered version of the original Ark: Survival Evolved, called Ark: Survival Ascended, which will be available in August.
The remastered version will run on Unreal Engine 5 and will include The Island and all non-canon DLC maps for Survival Evolved, as well as a revamped Survival of the Fittest game mode.
Why the player base of Ark Survival Evolved is infuriated given that the official servers are shutting down
- Now the player base has not taken lightly to this. Players are infuriated, believing that if Wildcard has asked for a monthly premium for playing their game – even that would have felt more justified than this drastic measure.
Why Ark is different –

Ark Survival Evolved is an extremely calling game. There are people (whom I have heard of personally) who have put over 100k hours into the game.
- Having played for years and years, and for days on end without any interruption. Some of the bases they have built and the dinos that they have bred have taken them many hours of in-game dedication.
- Such work, effort, enthusiasm, and interest are not deployable with ease. Ark is no Valorant or League of Legends – you spawn into a world and actually explore it. For days on that matter, unlike round robin 1-hour matches that most modern-day games make use of. The range of buildings is infinite and endless.
The dinosaur mutations are as time-taking as it is wearying. With such a range of effort ensued into the building of your gamebase, having said that Ark official servers will be closed due to the introduction of some ‘ascended’ games, it has done nothing more but to enrage the playerbase.
How Ark Survival Evolved’s official discord server handled the player’s reactions
About ARK: Survival Ascended…
After a lot of thought over the weekend I hope there will be changes coming to ASA. For one, I am pretty confused why they are seemingly including ARK2 in a bundle for an extra $10. Seems like a way to sweeten the deal but people are paying extra… pic.twitter.com/RR7DKzISds

The official discord server of Ark Survival Evolved was met with heavy criticism the instant such an announcement was made. Players took to the official discord server channels to channel their disappointment.
The reaction by the discord server moderator was obvious – they shut such comments down by deleting the messages the best they could. But this has not stopped players, change.org petitions are now on the rise. Calling the Ark player base to unite and contact for the developers to provide some sort of alternative.
What could be the possible alternatives that Studio Wildcard could make do with?

- One of the possible things the developers could do is to allow a system so that the player base can carry forward all its legacy forward. That the official servers in new Ark Survival Ascended allow players to continue their progress from Survival Evolved Server save status.
- Another is to not close down the Official servers at all, while still releasing Ark Survival Ascended.
About the joint bundle for PC and Xbox playersÂ
Wait up, there’s more.
The upcoming titles, ARK: Survival Ascended and ARK 2, will be available for Xbox Series S/X and PC players exclusively through the ARK Respawned Bundle. This bundle will include ownership of both games and will be priced at $49.99, and will be available from the end of August for a year.
Concluding
After the one-year period, both games will be sold separately. The bundle will also provide players with access to a one-month exclusive closed beta for ARK 2 in 2024, prior to its public release.
On the other hand, PlayStation 5 users will have the option to purchase ARK: Survival Ascended as a standalone next-gen game at its launch in August 2023 for $39.99.
