GTA 6 trailer crosses 100M views: MrBeast’s YouTube records shattered in 24 hours

GTA 6 trailer 100M views MrBeast 24 hours

As one of the most anticipated video games of all time, it was inevitable for the GTA 6 trailer to break long-standing records in YouTube, including all-timers like MrBeast’s videos. The sequel to GTA 5 has been long overdue; more than 10 years exactly. The eagerness among fans around the world clearly shows in the 100M views it has already surpassed in the past 24 hours. Let’s take a look at all the YouTube records broken by the GTA 6 trailer, a quick comparison with BTS, and MrBeast has reacted to it.

All-time record shattered by GTA 6 trailer

In just over a day’s time, the trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 has accumulated more than 100M views, making it one of the most watched videos in 24 hours. In the process, the trailer zoomed past significant YouTube records, especially the one for most viewed YouTube video in a single day (excluding music videos).

This particular record belonged to Jimmy Donaldson’s MrBeast channel for his still-popular Squid Game challenge. The video titled ‘$456,000 Squid Game in Real Life!’ garnered nearly 60M views in 24 hours since he uploaded it. Now, the GTA 6 trailer has blown it out of the water with a staggering new-record 90.6M views in the same time.

BTS remains strong at the top

Apart from being the most-viewed and most-liked trailer in 24 hours, the 90-second clip is also the fastest non-music video to reach 10M, 50M and 100M views in quick succession. The reason why the term ‘non-music video’ keeps popping up in these records is mainly thanks to BTS.

The all-time best-selling K-pop band still holds the records for the most viewed YouTube videos in 24 hours thanks to two of their viral singles. Butter’s music video stands strong with a record 108M views in 24 hours while Dynamite comes a close second with 101M views in the same amount of time.

How did MrBeast react to it?

The most-subscribed individual YouTuber took to X (Twitter) to gracefully accept that his channel’s record had been broken by the new trailer. The 25-year-old internet personality shared a screenshot of GTA 6 trailer with 70M views in 16 hours and announced the news.

Fellow YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) wittily remarked that MrBeast should re-enact the record-breaking trailer shot-for-shot in real life. Fans joined the party as they all called for a new ‘I Created GTA in Real Life’ video from the YouTuber to get the record back for himself.

The Squid Game challenge video is still the most viewed video of all time on his channel with over 540M views. However, as things stand, the upcoming 2025 game’s trailer will have no problem crossing this number as well.
