Grand Theft Auto (GTA), developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games, is among the popular game franchises. Its last game installment was GTA V (5) which was initially released last September of 2013. With the recent confirmation that GTA VI (6) is in the development stage, here is what we know so far about the game.
Grand Theft Auto VI
Rockstar Games confirmed earlier this year, in February 2022, that a new Grand Theft Auto game is under development. This is confirming two years of rumors that Rockstar Games is already developing the next installment to the franchise.
The official announcement is rather in a casual form. It is pretty underwhelming but gives us a little bit of hype that it is finally coming. The official announcement was made along with the GTA 5 Community updates. Here is the full text:

Grand Theft Auto VI: What to Expect
While there are no other official details released by Rockstar Games, here are some of the rumors in the air. As always, take all this with a grain of salt.
Some fans believe that the setting will take place around the 80s. However, Thomas Henderson, a reliable source of game leaks, thinks otherwise as stated in his Youtube video last June 2021.
Old-time settings are not impossible as they already happened in previous GTA titles. However, Henderson thinks the game will take place in a modern Vice City. If accurate, this will be fitting since there are rumors about the cryptocurrency feature of the game.
If cryptocurrency feature will happen, this might be the first mainstream franchise that will integrate blockchain technology. But, based on other franchise experiences, Rockstar Games might want to take a step back and learn from S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2.
Who knows? Maybe there is a solution or mitigation by the time they release the game (probably a long way there).
For game platforms, the game is expected to be played on at least PS5 and Xbox One. It will be a ‘medium-sized’ file at the very least. Like GTA 5, regular patches and updates will be installed along the way.
For the release date, being hopeful here, GTA 6 is expected to be released between April 2023 and May 2024. This is based on the financial details of Take-Two Interactive, a video game holding company that owns Rockstar and 2k, analyzed by Techradar.
