One of the main problems for the various software houses in the face of a new gaming platform is certainly that of having to add another version to the porting of their titles. Converting a game to different consoles is never easy and the story is full of more or less successful porting, a symptom of the non-trivial nature of this operation. With the upcoming arrival of Google Stadia, this situation is therefore destined to recur.
The particular nature of the solution, focused on streaming gaming, will however be of help or not to the various software houses in this operation? Will the porting work be facilitated on Google Stadia or will it be even more difficult? To intervene on the issue was one of the main players in the sector: Ubisoft.
According to the publisher make porting on Stadia will not be particularly difficult. the CEO of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, has declared:
“The extra cost to be incurred to ensure that the titles also run on Stadia is not so high. Porting is one of our main processes and we have a good relationship with Stadia to ensure that everything is particularly profitable”.
Since the famous publisher is an early adopter of Google Stadia it remains, therefore, the doubt whether the economy of the process is due to effective ease of porting or if instead, it is a situation in which the learning economies play a fundamental role.
What do you think of this news, is it good news for the controversial Google streaming gaming solution? Do you think Google Stadia will succeed in taking on video players or is the Mountain View giant’s solution still too immature? Let us know your predictions in the comments!
