Gonzaga University Bulldogs freshman and star Chet Holmgren announced on Twitter that he will be entering the upcoming NBA 2022 draft.

After just one season with Gonzaga, the projected 1st overall pick finally decided to take his talents to the NBA. The 7-footer is a consensus five-star recruit and is the number one ranked player in the class of 2021. At a very young age, Holmgren is already showing great promise and has very high potential.
During his freshman year in Gonzaga, Chet Holmgren was putting up impressive numbers while being the 2nd star, next to Drew Timme.
He was averaging 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 3.7 blocks while playing 27 minutes per game. Due to his great output, he and his team managed to slither their way to the NCAA 2022 March Madness Sweet 16. Though they were a favorite to win the chip, they fell short to an equally talented Arkansas team.
Holmgren is no doubt a very talented athlete. In his 2021 FIBA U19 outing, Chet won a gold medal for Team USA as well as being named the contest’s MVP. It just goes to show Chet has a very high ceiling.

Scouting reports say that Chet has a wide array of scoring skills. Not to mention, he is standing at 7 feet and has a 7-foot-5 wingspan, which makes him a force in the paint. His dribbling skills and footwork are already at an elite level.
Though the 19-year-old is undoubtedly a skilled player, he still has a long way to go. Honestly, he needs to be stronger to cope with other bigs in the NBA. We all remember how Giannis grew from zero to hero in just a matter of a few years. Hopefully, Chet can do the same.
Aside from Chet Holmgren, another future star who also happens to be a projected 1st pick also declared for the 2022 draft. Duke forward, Paolo Banchero, declared for the upcoming draft and will take the next step in his basketball career.
