The reigning champion and Finals MVP is making another case as the “Best Player in the League” today.
Currently, Giannis Antetokounmpo is having fantastic averages: 29.9 PPG, 5.8 APG, 11.6 RPG, 1.1 SPG, 1.4 BPG, 55.3% FG, 29.3% 3P FG, and 32.39 PER. He is also leading the Bucks in the tight Eastern Conference with a 51-30 record (2nd seed).

Giannis, also known as The Greek Freak, is putting the league on notice as he is currently one of the frontrunners in not just one (1), but three (3) NBA Awards – Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player of the Year, and Scoring Champion.
His current rankings in these awards are as follows:
- 2nd in Most Valuable Player (MVP) ranking
- 1st in Defensive Player of the Year (DPoY) ranking
- 2nd in Leading Scorers
This season, the Bucks’ superstar has a legit chance of winning it all. Not just the three regular-season awards, but also taking home the NBA Championship once again.
Giannis was once a scrawny kid straight out of Greece but has greatly evolved into one of the best athletes we have seen. Not only did he massively improve, but he also did it in only a matter of years. Right now, he is solidifying himself as Milwaukee Bucks’ centerpiece and could be the future face of the NBA.
NBA History 101
One Hall-of-Famer already did a feat like this in the past. His name is no other than the great Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon.

Back in the 1993-1994 season, Hakeem was a beast on both ends of the floor. There was absolutely no one who could stop Hakeem. NO ONE. Not even Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, Malone, or Barkley could stop the guy.
He dominated the league during this time and won almost all major awards that year such as,
- Regular Season Most Valuable Player
- Defensive Player of The Year
- NBA Champion/Finals MVP
For the record, he is the only player to ever win regular-season MVP, DPoY, and Finals MVP in the same season. They went to the finals twice and won both of them. Coincidentally, this was when Michael Jordan announced his first retirement. While there are a lot of people that doubt Hakeem would not have achieved so much had Jordan played, it still does not change the fact that Hakeem was the best player during that time.
Can Giannis replicate what Hakeem did in 1993-1994? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below. For more content, stay with us, here at Spiel Times.
