The (G)I-DLE 2nd full album is coming, and we are excited for its nearing release! At midnight of January 8, NEVERLANDs were surprised with a logo-like teaser of their upcoming full-length album. Aside from the excitement of the tracks in it, fans can’t help but be amazed by the creativity and wittiness of the production to come up with a new ‘era’ when it comes to the (G)I-DLE’s album titles. Here’s what is different from the girl group’s title, and how the fans reacted to it.

(G)I-DLE 2nd Full Album Swerved From The Group’s I Albums

The early fourth-generation girl group had made their name known, alongside the album titles they released. Let’s have a quick explanation of the group’s name: (여자) 아이들, where each word means girl and children. In their English name, instead of using girl, they stick to (G)I-DLE, since idle is almost similar to 아이들.

The group dropped their first English album, HEAT late last year, and now, the (G)I-DLE 2nd full album got more mind-wrecking with their title 2. To be more particular, regarding Hangul, 이 translates to i, and 둘 is two. When we put the two together, it spells 이둘 (I-DUL), which closely resembles the group’s name, (I-DLE). This had also been shown in their logo teaser along with the announcement of the upcoming studio album.

Interestingly, if you have been a fan of the CUBE Entertainment girl group, you’ll know that their album titles always start with I. Here’s the list of all the titles since their debut, which makes this difference quite big of a deal. Is this a new era coming?! We can’t wait!

After nearly two years of waiting, Jeon Soyeon, Cho Miyeon, Kim Minnie, Song Yuqi, and Yeh Shuhua will be releasing the (G)I-DLE 2nd full album 2 on January 29, 2024, at 6 PM, KST. We wouldn’t be hoping for anything less with the newest era!

NEVERLANDs React To The Unexpected Announcement

Who would have expected a full album release to kick-start 2024? Oh, in NEVERLANDs’ thoughts, nobody is doing it like IDLE. Many easily picked up the slight difference in the album title, from I to 2. Some already did a quick explanation of the title change, right after they dropped the teaser, while others had their version of what could 2 mean for the group. May 2 is also their debut date, so the logo is well-thought-out — just wow.

Other fans started sharing their wishful thinking of the concept, and what the tracks can sound like. While we have to wait for more clues, we’re pretty confident that the producer line, Soyeon, Minnie, and Yuqi, each have something in the studio album to brag about. But, if we get Miyeon and Shuhua to participate in lyric writing and composition, then we’ll probably burst into tears.
