Ghostwire: Tokyo is an open-world action-adventure game, thus there are a lot of wonderful things you can find in this game. An example of this is the Tanuki Hunt. A Tanuki Hunt is a side quest that is given by what looks to be Tanuki (a Japanese raccoon dog). This bossy Tanuki is trying to locate his family who had gone and spread across Tokyo.
Ghostwire: Tokyo prides itself on jaw-dropping graphics and a subtle look at the streets of Tokyo, Japan.
The newest game from Bethesda Softworks, Ghostwire: Tokyo, was just released a few days ago (March 25, 2022). Bethesda is the studio responsible for great game series like The Elder Scrolls, Wolfenstein, Fallout, and Doom.

Locating the Tanukis can be quite difficult as they disguise themselves as regular objects. But, each Tanuki is in the territory of a specific Torii Gate Shrine which means you can see how many are in an area by just hovering over a Shrine’s icon on the map.
One of the sidequests you will be given is to locate a Tanuki in Namihara Shrine. If you want to know how scroll down below for a quick guide.
How to Locate Namihara Shrine Tanuki Location
In finding a Tanuki, there are times you’ll get lucky. Fortunately, today is your lucky day! The Namihara Torii Shrine has exactly one Tanuki in its vicinity.

There are actually two ways to locate the hidden Tanuki:
- If you want to go by the book, you will need to clear out the shrine. After that, you are going to notice an Offering Box located right beside you (on your left). If the player offers the max amount and asks for Tanuki locations, the Offering Box will reveal the location of the Tanuki on the map, which should be marked as a paw print.
- The easiest and cheapest way to find the Tanuki is by parkouring your way on the shrine’s roof until you reach the adjacent building’s rooftop. This is possible since you already know that there’s a Tanuki just right in front of you.
There are currently 25 Tanukis in the game. Collect all of them to complete the “Tanuki Hunt” side mission. With that, you can unlock the “Your Tail’s Showing” trophy afterward.
