Dragon is such a character in Genshin Impact that players often encounter. Dvalin and Durin are the species of the dragon but both species differ in many ways. Ursa the Drake is another species.
In Genshin Impact 1.2, Albedo narrates the story of a dragon residing in the snowy mountains, players for the very first time heard of Durin. The story unfurls by revealing that Albedo and Durin are actually “brothers”. However, this part did not gain much clarity until Version 2.3.

Appearance
- Durin takes on the monstrous shape of a malformed skeleton dragon. His appearance is complete with flaming and crimson eyes. Long veins stretch along the folds of his wings. Durin is many times the size of Dvalin, based on his skeletal remains around Dragonspine.

Personality
- Durin is a creature of a kind, gentle heart, and with a consistent dream of befriending Dvalin along with the people of Mondstadt. He was apparently unaware of the destructive actions that he performed unconsciously over the people of Mondstadt until he was fatally injured by Dvalin. Durin held no contempt towards Dvalin or even Barbatos. He only wished that he met them under better circumstances.
3. Durin is Made of Gold
- Albedo too like Durin is Rhinedottir’s creation. This Khaenri’ah alchemist aka Gold is popularly known by her alias. She is well known for her great ambition as well as knowledge. This eventually creates a series of catastrophic creations in the game like the Golden Wolflord.
- Gold’s whereabouts are currently unknown. But, before she vanished, Rhinedottir instructed Albedo to discover the truth about the world. Unfortunately, despite his brilliance, Albedo is yet to complete this assignment.
4. Durin Swallowed Impostor Albedo
- Albedo is really a Homunculus. He’s a bogus, made-up human. Rhinedottir’s greatest accomplishments are Durin and Albedo. Of course, even for such an accomplished alchemist, the process of creation was not easy.
- Albedo’s first version was deemed a failure. As a result, Gold placed the specimen inside Durin’s stomach, where it would remain for many years until it broke out and attempted to eliminate the real Albedo.
5. Durin is Actually a Softie!
- Despite the popular portrayal of Durin as a menacing creature, he actually a softie at the heart! The Anemo Archon recounts the narrative of Durin causing a disaster in Teyvat in one of Venti’s sequences. He and Dvalin will eventually have to join forces to destroy this massive monster.
6. Corrupted Dvalin
- It is not exactly known how Dvalin’s blood was able to corrupt Dvalin. But the blue dragon had bit Durin’s neck in order to kill it. At that particular time, the blood most likely had entered the bloodstreams of Dvalin’s body. Later on, this dragon came to be fearfully known as the Stormterror.
7. Durin has Revived the Frostbearing Tree
- Durin’s blood, however, is capable of more than just corruption. This unusual species even has the ability to resurrect and generate new lives. For example, when Celestia chose to destroy Sal Vindagnyr’s old civilizations, the crimson tree died with them.
- However, when Durin’s blood had seeped into the mountain, it was powerful enough to resurrect the Frostbearing Tree, despite the fact that it had been dead for millennia. Durin’s blood was also used to create Fellflower, a highly mutated kind of Cryo Whopperflower.
