Heads up, Travelers! Genshin Impact 2.8 is finally entering Phase 2 and we’re getting new weapons, events, and a Yoimiya rerun! Here are all the details you need to know to get ready for Phase 2 of Genshin Impact 2.8.
Phase 2 of Genshin Impact 2.8 brings new content and a Yoimiya rerun to the game
The official social media accounts of Genshin Impact announced all the new content coming to phase 2 of the 2.8 patch. But if you’ve been looking at leaks before this information came out, then it’s no secret that Yoimiya is getting her first rerun.
And because Yoimiya is getting a rerun banner, it will only make sense that the weapon banner is also changing. But for those Travelers who are still saving up Primogems to pull for Kazuha or Klee, don’t worry.
The second phase of Genshin Impact 2.8 launches on August 2, 2022. Then, it will be live until August 23, 2022. Aside from new character and weapon banners, the second phase also introduces new events to Genshin Impact.

Events in the second phase of Version 2.8
According to the official announcement from Genshin Impact, there are two new events lined up for Genshin Impact 2.8 Phase 2. Here are all the details you need to know about the new events coming to Genshin Impact:
Reminiscent Regiment (August 4, 2022 – August 15, 2022)

- This event takes place on the Golden Apple Archipelago. If you’ve already played through the Summertime Odyssey event, then you’ve encountered Mirages already. So in Reminiscent Regiment, you’ll go through “challenges within mirages.”
- To take part in this event, you must first complete Summertime Odyssey: I.
Evermotion Mechanical Painting (August 12, 2022 – August 22, 2022)

- For the second event in Phase 2, you are helping another NPC from Fontaine. But instead of creating robot toys which you can place in your Serenitea Pot, you help the NPC out by fixing some Mechanical Painting Parts.
- To take part in this event, Travelers need to be at least Adventure Rank 18 or higher. Additionally, you also need to complete Prologue: Act III – Song of the Dragon and Freedom to be eligible for this event.

Character Banner
One of the highlights of Phase 2 is the Yoimiya rerun banner. Unlike in the first phase where two 5-star characters are available (Klee and Kazuha), Yoimiya is on her own this time. The last time Yoimiya’s banner was available for Travelers to pull from was when she first released in Genshin Impact 2.0.
The 4-star characters accompanying Yoimiya in her solo rerun banner are the following:
- Bennett
- Xinyan
- Yun Jin
But if you are building pity for another character that might release in the future, we suggest saving your Primogems. Even though you may want the 4-star characters whose drop rates are boosted, you may accidentally pull Yoimiya.
And if you know a thing or two about how the Pity System in Genshin works, it resets your earned Pity to 0. When this happens, the chances for you to get a guaranteed pull on the next 5-star character significantly reduces.
However, Yoimiya is a great Pyro unit to have on your team. Moreover, she can perform very well if you decide to build her as your team’s main DMG dealer.

Weapon Banner for Phase 2
As for the Weapon Banner in the second phase, the featured weapons are the Thundering Pulse and Summit Shaper. The first weapon, Thundering Pulse is a 5-star Bow which is the most recommended weapon for Yoimiya. On the other hand, you can also equip this on other characters like Yelan, Childe, Ganyu, or even Fischl.
And as for the Summit Shaper, this is another 5-star weapon but this time, it’s a sword. If you luckily pull Bennett or get his Constellations up by pulling for Yoimiya, then you may want to get him the Summit Shaper. Aside from Bennett, the other characters who can use the Summit Shaper are the following: Keqing, Kaeya, Jean, Qiqi, Kamisato Ayaka and Ayato, Qiqi, and Geo Traveler.
What comes next after Phase 2 of Genshin Impact 2.8?
Following the second phase of Version 2.8, Travelers can expect the Sumeri region to be unlocked in the next update. Seen as Genshin Impact did not have a 1.9 update and skipped over to 2.0 after 1.8, this will most likely repeat. And with the amount of leaks we’ve gotten about Sumeru, we can definitely expect the 3.0 update to come soon.
According to the official announcement from Genshin Impact, Phase 2 of Version 2.8 runs from August 2, 2022 until August 23, 2022. But on its last day, it will only be live until 14:59:59 server time. This means that on the day Version 2.8 ends, we may be getting the much-awaited Sumeru update after a few hours.
Or we may also get the update the next day. Nonetheless, we’re very much excited to see how the story of Genshin Impact expands with a new region. The region of Sumeru is home to the Dendro Archon, the youngest among all the Archons in Teyvat.
But aside from the much-awaited Sumeru update which introduces new characters to the game, there is still buzz in the Genshin community about the Fatui Harbingers.
Will the Fatui Harbingers be playable? And will we see more of them in the story?
When Genshin Impact dropped the teaser video for the Fatui Harbingers as they mourn the death of La Signora, it raised a lot of questions for observant Travelers. Some of these questions are whether the Fatui Harbingers become playable just like Tartaglia/Childe.
But there are also questions about whether or not we’ve encountered some of these Harbingers before, like how Baizhu is eerily similar to Pantalone. We just have to wait until Genshin Impact 3.0 releases. For now, we have the Yoimiya rerun banner to enjoy first as well as some new events.
