Coachella within its first week has seen it all, from great performances to curfew fines and abrupt show endings. One such piece of news that is catching the buzz is Frank Ocean dropped out of Coachella 2023 weekend 2 amidst a controversial performance to be replaced by Blink 182.

What happened at Frank’s performance?

Frank Ocean has been anticipated to perform at Coachella for 2 years in a row but was canceled due to the pandemic. Frank hasn’t performed for the last 6 years. Hence, fans were excited to watch this performance. But it didn’t exactly go as planned!

  • Frank Ocean’s performance started with a disappointed crowd because of an hour delay. Fans quickly jumped on their social handles and expressed their frustration. Ocean’s set was delayed because of some rumored last-day changes to the stage. According to the online statements Frank didn’t acknowledge the delay and on top of that Ocean was barely visible.
  • Frank wore a hood at the back of the stage and mostly had his back toward the audience. Fans were infuriated by the long awkward silence between the songs and the abrupt ending where Ocean stated “Guys, I’m being told it’s a curfew, so that’s the end of the show, Thank you so much.”

  • Ocean’s set on April 16th included him performing on reworked tracks like “Novacane,” “Pink + White,” “White Ferrari,” “Crack Rock,” and more. In addition, there was a new version of “Wiseman” from Django Unchained and Aretha Franklin’s song “Night Life”. The rest of the songs were mostly lip-synced and the night was abruptly concluded with a cover of “At Your Best (You Are Love)”.

Amidst this controversial performance by Frank Ocean, there is a statement about him being dropped out of Coachella 2023. According to some statements Frank wouldn’t perform in the following weekend of Coachella 2023 on a doctor’s advice. It is stated that he has two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.

Where can you stream it?
