Fortnite: Unrecoverable Error Solved; Possible Fixes

Fortnite v21.20 - Summer Unrecoverable Error

If you’re one of the players who encountered the Unrecoverable Error on Fortnite, chances are you’re looking for a fix. Worry not as we got you covered! Read on to find out the possible fixes to the Unrecoverable Error in Fortnite.

What is ‘Unrecoverable Error’ in Fortnite and why am I getting it?

It’s common for live service games like Fortnite to experience different types of crashes and errors. Moreover, it’s more than common for players to get errors for a game that releases such huge updates from time to time. So if you’re worried that something is corrupting your PC and causing this error in Fortnite, then you can breathe easily now.

Right after the launch of Fortnite Version 21.20 (released during the first week of July), some PC players immediately noticed an error popping up every time they try to launch Fortnite. Additionally, it only happened to players who launch Fortnite through the Epic Games Store application.

What happens is the game boots up like normal. But players also noticed that launching Fortnite takes up a suspicious amount of RAM. And then, the application just crashes and a scary pop-up warning shows on the screen.

If you are one of the players who already encountered this error, the pop-up window is very worrying. It says that the “application encountered an unrecoverable error.” Then, it makes users create a memory dump which can be shared on Fortnite’s support site.

Here are some of the possible fixes to resolve the Unrecoverable Error in Fortnite:

Make sure Fortnite is up-to-date on your device

In one Reddit post asking about the error, one user shared that they have gotten in touch with someone from Epic Games. It seems that after the update, Epic has put out a small patch which aims to resolve the error.

So if you’re still getting it today, make sure that your game is up to date. Doing things like uninstalling and then re-installing Fortnite does not help, according to some players.

Contact someone from Epic Games about your problem

But if your game is up to date and you still encounter the Unrecoverable Error in Fortnite, then you can reach out to someone on their support team. If you do this, you’ll need to provide them with your memory dump which can take up a lot of space on your drive. So be sure you have enough free space before creating a memory dump and reaching out to Epic about your problem.

Re-install Anti-Cheat Software

Another potential fix to this error in Fortnite is reinstalling the game’s Easy Anti-Cheat software. There are also other games who have errors on start-up which can be easily resolved by uninstalling and re-installing the EAC software it comes with.

Re-install BattlEye

Aside from EAC software being a problem for some users, BattlEye can also cause errors like this to appear. Some users reported that after they uninstalled and re-installed BattlEye, the Unrecoverable Error in Fortnite disappeared and they could play the game properly.

Check if your drivers are up to date

Additionally, you can also make sure that your PC’s graphic drivers are up to date. Sometimes, this can cause other games aside from Fortnite to crash or not launch at all. Or if you’re running Fortnite on an old version of Windows, maybe it’s time for an upgrade.

Verify Fortnite game files through Epic Games Launcher

And finally, another thing you can try is to repair Fortnite through the Epic Games Launcher application. Although it does not explicitly say REPAIR, verifying the game files of Fortnite can help resolve issues or errors. By doing this, the application also scans your files and replaces problematic ones to ensure that your game runs smoothly.
