Epic Games recently made a huge announcement via a post on the official Fortnite website. Players can now experience a Martin Luther King experience for Fortnite which they can try out by playing the Battle Royale title.
More specifically, Martin Luther King Jr. will be not be featuring in the Battle Royale part of Fortnite but it will include a newly included interactive experience that is presented by TIME Studios.
- The blog post put up mentions that this has been “developed by members of the community in Fornite Creative, March Through Time immerses players in the entirety of Dr. Kings’s monumental “I Have a Dream” speech and history surrounding it”.
- Hence, March Through Time aims to take the players down the historical lane of D.C. 63, which is a reimagination of Washington D.C that is “built by the community members, ChaseJackman, GQuanoe, XWDFr, and YU7A.”
- This enables the players to go and travel to the Lincoln Memorial and the United States National Mall; thereafter they will hear the seventeen minutes iconic speeches of Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
Moreover, players will have to pick the points of interest from the speech and also complete a mini-game with the other players in the game which will be based on the important themes of MLK’s speech. Players upon completion of this mini-game quest will receive the D.C. 63 spray.
Civil Rights Movement
This event has received mixed reviews from the community and while some sections of people are appreciative of this commemorative event, others question if the cameo of Martin Luther King’s appearance in a game widely known for its Battle Royale mode is a wise option.
However, this commemorative event appears to be quite intriguing for many reasons. It is commendable of Fortnite to include Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement, given what has happened in the United States in the past couple of months.
