The 18.40 patch for Fortnite, which was expected to be out this week, is delayed by a week’s time. The new patch will be released on the 16th of November instead and is going to be the last update of Chapter 2 Season 8.
The previous patch, 18.30, was released at the end of October. It brought the Cube Queen to the game. She began her invasion of the island with the transformation of the island’s center into the Convergence.
The update was supposed to include future Accolades devices for content creators, which would help them get better XP, among other changes and new content. The Accolades webpage states that this will not be available until the 16th of November. This information was also shared by Twitter user iFireMonkey, and can be seen on the Accolades website as well.
v18.40 is now confirmed to not release next week and instead release November 16th, 2021.
Epic has stated the upcoming Creative Accolade Device would be available to all creators "in v18.40" and the webpage states the Device leaves early access Nov. 16th, which is update day. pic.twitter.com/FFKJs2nv9H

- It has been speculated that the Season will be coming to an end on December 5 since the current Battle Pass ends on that day. Keeping this in mind, players will have the month of November to unlock the Cube Queen, Marvel’s Carnage, and other items in the shop.
- While there have been rumors of Naruto being introduced in the game, there has not been any sign of him yet. We can expect to see him make an entrance with the release of the 18.40 patch.
