One of the Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 Covert Ops Quests requires you to Establish a Device Uplink (Phase 3), and here’s how to do so.
You can complete the new Covert Ops Quests to obtain a free Secret Sledge pickaxe in Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2. One of these Covert Ops Quests needs you to establish a device uplink. This is an easy quest if you know where to look, we’ll go over the places you should go.
ESTABLISH A DEVICE UPLINK
- The Covert Ops questline is a series of quests in Fortnite Chapter Three, Season Two, that takes place in the game’s new Zero Build mode. Completing Covert Ops rewards players with the Secret Sledge Pickaxe if they complete all missions.
- However, you can only access each of the four Covert Ops tasks if you finish them in order. You will not be able to participate in subsequent tasks if you miss one.
- In Zero Build mode, you must first build a device uplink at an IO outpost, then destroy structures with a Tank.

LOCATION
- You must be playing in Zero Build mode to establish a Device Uplink. After you’ve entered this mode, you’ll see a map that shows all of the possible locations for the uplink to be launched.
- Establishing a device uplink in Zero Build is required for the first quest in Phase 3 Covert Ops.

- Look for a bright blue beacon and approach it once you’ve arrived at one of the above spots. When you reach the beacon, walk over it to receive a call from The Origin alerting you that the mission is ready for the next step.
