First look at Dr Disrespect NFT Slash FPS game Deadrop; Is it worth the hype?

Deadrop - Dr. Disrespect NFT

We now have a first look at the new NFT game from Dr Disrespect and his development studio. Previously known as ‘Project Moon’, Deadrop is Dr Disrespect’s first venture into releasing his own game titles.

Last Friday, Dr Disrespect hosted a live event in Los Angeles where more details about ‘Deadrop’ were unveiled. If you’re not familiar with this project from Dr. Disrespect, the streamer announced that he is releasing a game that incorporates the use of non-fungible tokens or NFT.

Those invited to the live event hosted by Dr Disrespect and Midnight Society are known to be industry insiders. Other than these insiders, some known esports organizations were also in attendance.

The reason why the live event was held is to give the gaming community a first look at ‘Deadrop’, the much-awaited first-person shooter (FPS) game created by Dr. Disrespect and Midnight Society.

According to Midnight Society, ‘Deadrop’ is going to be the first-ever “Vertical Extraction Shooter”. If you’ve played games like Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown, then these titles are similar to the upcoming game from Dr. Disrespect.

However, Midnight Society aims to separate Deadrop from other extraction shooters with its “vertical” twist. In some of the gameplay we’ve seen for ‘Deadrop’, it looks like the game is set in an enclosed space.

So even though it’s an extraction shooter like Escape from Tarkov, the combat happens in buildings. And instead of running through the forests and using the trees as cover, players will now have to face off against each other in the ruins of massive buildings.

What is Dr Disrespect’s Deadrop all about?

From the official blog post released by the game’s devs, ‘Deadrop’ aims to be an arena shooter game. But since we’re talking about Dr Disrespect here, there’s more to ‘Deadrop’.

The blog post proceeds to explain that although the level designs of the game are on the same level as arena shooters, they want the player count to match those of battle royale games.

Furthermore, players have the choice to join multiple factions in the game. Some of these factions are the Skins, Cleaners, and Syns. The main goal is for players to successfully gather ‘Space Dust’, a drug that seems to play a major role in the game’s story.

A few months ago, Dr Disrespect and Midnight Society put up ‘Deadrop’ NFTs for sale

  • If you’ve been following news about ‘Deadrop’ since Dr Disrespect announced it and it was still called Project Moon or Project X, then you may have heard of the Founders Pass NFTs for sale.
  • Those who purchased the Founders Pass NFTs had early access to the game when it still had no official title. But if you feel like you’re missing out on the Dr Disrespect NFT hype train, then worry not. New ‘Deadrop’ NFTs are still coming, according to Midnight Society.

As of now, there is no release date yet for ‘Deadrop’.
