Final Fantasy 6 Pixel (Remaster) Delayed To February 2022

Square Enix has announced a minor delay in the release of the final Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster project. The updated edition of Final Fantasy 6 will arrive in early 2022. No specific dates have been provided yet. However, we sure know that the game will now release in February 2022. Square Enix explains that this allows them to have “the necessary time to apply final polish while finishing development of the game”.

Remaster Announcement

June 2021 – Pixel Remaster project announcement. The goal was to rejuvenate the original six games in the long-running JRPG series. Square Enix included “modernized UI, and features such as a bestiary, image gallery, and music player provide additional immersion into the world of the game” to each title.

Square Enix, on the other hand, has stated that the bundle would be out in stages. The first three titles coming in July 2021, preceded by Final Fantasy 4 and Final Fantasy 5. The sixth game has no official launch date yet. Many had predicted a delivery date of late 2021 or early 2022.

The Pixel Remasters’ release dates have been rather inconsistent. The most recent game, Final Fantasy 5 Pixel Remaster, had been published on November 10, 2021. Others were subsequently out in September and July.

Pre-Purchase Bonuses

  • This update also includes information on the pre-purchase bonus items for Final Fantasy 6 Pixel Remaster. Two additional special soundtracks, “Locke’s Theme (Timelapse Remix)” and “Aria di Mezzo Carattere (Instrumental),” have been added to the “Timelapse Remixes” of “The Decisive Battle,” “Terra’s Theme,” and “Searching for Friends.”
  • The “Timelapse Remix” is defined by Square Enix as “unique arrangements” that begins with the original rendition of the song before “gradually transition[ing] to the revised alternate soundtrack version.” Fans will also receive two types of Pixel Remaster wallpapers, one for each of the six titles, not just Final Fantasy 6.

The complete package of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster will be available on the PC and mobile platforms. However, there is still no news about the console release. However, the full package should be available at the same time as that of the launch of the Steam Deck. This will then provide the players with a perfect platform to relive these classics.
