Final Fantasy 16 introduces a “dog” companion called Torgal
As Clive sets out on a journey to confront whoever was responsible for attacking his kingdom, he will be joined by his own trusty dog companion. It’s understandable why players are looking forward to meeting Torgal in Final Fantasy 16. I mean, you can actually issue different kinds of commands to your own wolf slash dog! By doing so, it will make things like fighting off enemies and exploring the rich world of Final Fantasy 16 easier.

Ever since the disaster that sets off the events in Final Fantasy 16 took place, Clive has had his trusty dog companion by his side. The loyal wolf-dog hybrid serves Clive with the same loyalty he has had when he was first rescued by Archduke Elwin Rosfield.

What commands can you give Torgal in Final Fantasy 16?
Unlike other games, you cannot directly control Torgal the wolf-dog in Final Fantasy 16. While you take on the role of Clive Rosfield, Torgal joins you as one of your party members. During battles, Clive can give out commands to Torgal and ask for a hand while fighting off all kinds of enemies.

- The commands you can give Torgal so far are Sic, Heal and Ravage. To make things easier for Final Fantasy 16 players, you can execute these commands by pressing on the directional pad of your controller.
- If you’re worried that these commands for your dog may get in the way of the potions, it’s possible that you can switch back to these with ease in the game.
- The Sic and Ravage commands are there to have Torgal attack the enemies. They have the ability to slow down your enemies while also dealing additional damage.
- As for Heal, it will provide light healing for Clive in case you need a quick health boost. Of course, it might be a good idea to pack additional potions just in case.

- Torgal can also guide Clive while he explores the world of Final Fantasy 16. He can offer guidance in case the player doesn’t know where to find the objective or where to go next.
- In one of the gameplay footages, we can see Clive feeding Torgal treats. However, there currently is no information on whether this boosts Torgal’s stats or not.
So far, these are the commands you can give to your dog companion in Final Fantasy 16. There are currently no indications from SQUARE ENIX if you can have Torgal learn other things or replace these three actions.
All we can do is wait until the game officially releases in June. By then, we may know more about other things Torgal is capable of in Final Fantasy 16 since some of the footage shows him exploring with Clive.

SQUARE ENIX makes sure you’ll have the best time with Torgal
One of the highlights from Final Fantasy 16’s State of Play showcase is that you can pet Torgal. SQUARE ENIX definitely anticipated fans wanting this feature and turned our dreams into reality. If a game includes a pet of any kind, one of the things most players want to do is have the ability to pet them.
Aside from being able to pet Torgal, other gameplay footage also revealed that Clive can feed treats to his dog companion in Final Fantasy 16. We’re more than looking forward to what else Torgal can do in the game, but the fact that you can pet him is already a win!
The game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive at launch on June 23, 2023. However, the game is expected to release on other platforms such as the PC six months after release. You can also pre-order the game now in order to receive exclusive freebies.
