Elizabeth Gillies Allegedly Shade Victoria Justice In Instagram Update | Is It True?

Did Elizabeth Gillies shade Victoria Justice while hanging out with Ariana Grande?

The Victorious fandom is facing controversy after Elizabeth Gillies, who played Jade West in the Nickelodeon show uploaded a fun night-in on her Instagram stories. She was watching the 2010 sitcom with her co-star and friend Ariana Grande but forgot to include the show’s lead Victoria Justice. Read ahead to find out what exactly happened and why it is rubbing the fans in the wrong way.

Elizabeth Gillies shares video watching ‘Victorious’

On December 14, 2023, Elizabeth Gillies uploaded videos on her Instagram stories showing fans her little night-in with Ariana Grande. Both the singer-actors appeared on Nickelodeon’s show as Jade West and Cat Valentine respectively.

Recently, the show restarted to trend as fans uploaded funny clips on short-form video-sharing sites such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. The regained attention once again gathered the nostalgic fandom and also introduced the sitcom to new audiences.

Adding to this trip down memory lane, Gillies and Grande recreated Showgirls’ lunch scene from a 1995 erotic thriller film for Halloween. They both dressed up in the classic studded leather jacket and showcased their acting talents.

Following the viral clip they both gathered for a cosy night-in and watched their show. Gillies uploaded some of the popular scenes on her Instagram story tagging all the former cast members including Daniella Monet, Matt Bennett, and Leon Thomas III. However, she didn’t tag Victoria Justice although she was present in all the scenes.

Was it an intentional shade?

When the Instagram stories went viral fans began to criticize Liz Gillies for allegedly shading Justice by not tagging her. They claimed that it was a mean girl behavior and evidence of their lack of friendship.

Some of the fans alleged that it was because Justice liked a pro-Israel post on Instagram. On the other hand, many fans criticized her for supporting the 2010 show after it was revealed that its creator Dan Schneider was shrouded in allegations of on-set misconduct including abusive behaviour, pedophilic advances, and more.

Due to these debates, Liz Gillies’s fun night-in with Ariana Grande became a controversial event. However, it is difficult to find any ill intentions in her actions. As the show was released over a decade ago the relations of the co-stars are bound to change but as the show has recently been trending her reminiscing about it with Grande is also natural. Additionally, not tagging someone is not substantial enough to count as a shade.
