EA Play Live, an annual showcase event from Electronic Arts, won’t be having a broadcast alongside this year’s E3. The annual event from EA started in 2016 and it seems they’re breaking tradition this year.
EA wants to shift to smaller showcases this time
The reason behind the cancellation of EA Play Live this year is that they want smaller showcases. And EA explains further in a statement sent to IGN that they want to give individual focus on their upcoming games. Read the complete statement below.
“We love EA Play Live as it’s our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you. However, this year things aren’t lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year!”
COVID-19 greatly affected gaming events like E3 and EA Play Live
Before the pandemic, excited fans could try out EA’s upcoming games during the EA Play Live event. But because of strict COVID-19 measures, events like E3 made the decision to livestream the event instead of having it in-person. Last year, EA Play Live streamed a few weeks after E3.
EA’s upcoming line-up will most likely focus on their Dead Space remake. The game is set to launch in 2023. Other titles to look out for from EA are their usual sports games and a number of Star Wars titles developed by Respawn Entertainment.
