The producers expect the docu-series to raise questions on why the family’s inner workings and religious beliefs were not thoroughly examined earlier. They argue that people have overlooked and ignored numerous issues without proper scrutiny.
The Duggar family’s troubled history
The Duggar family’s journey has been marred by a lot of scandals in the past. In 2015, their original TLC show ‘19 Kids and Counting’ was pulled from the network.
The eldest sibling, Josh Duggar, had reportedly molested several girls when he was 14 and 15 years old. It later came to light that Jill and her sister Jessa Duggar were among the victims. Despite the scandal, the family continued their reality TV stint with the spinoff Counting On, which aired for 11 seasons till 2020.
Josh Duggar became embroiled in further controversy when he was arrested in 2021 on child pornography charges. TLC cut ties with the Duggar family in the same year. Josh currently serves time in a Texas prison. He was found guilty on two counts of receiving and possessing child pornography.
