Dragon’s Dogma 2 (And Things We Know About It So Far)

Dragon’s Dogma (released on May 22, 2012) celebrated its 10th anniversary last month. Earlier this week, after celebrating 10 years of this game, director Hideaki Itsuno announced that a sequel (Dragon’s Dogma 2) is already in development.
Itsuno excitedly announced on a teaser announcement video during the game’s 10th anniversary live stream that,
“Dragon’s Dogma 2 is currently in development!”. He also added that “Everyone in the development team is hard at work creating a game that we hope you will enjoy!”
Aside from learning that Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be similar to other Capcom games which will be built on the RE Engine plus the teaser of the game’s logo, no further details have been announced by the developers. Release date announcements, gameplay trailers, and on which platforms the game is going to be released are expected to be shared soon. Together with the leadership of Hideaki Itsuno, two of his colleagues who also developed the first game named Daigo Ikeno and Kenichi Suzuki are coming back for the sequel.

Hideaki Itsuno’s Video Game Creating Career
Hideaki Itsuno is a Japanese video game creator who fell in love with role-playing games in his youth. He first joined the powerhouse video game developer CAPCOM in 1994. Early in his career, he directed popular titles like Rival Schools: United by Fate series, Devil May Cry series, Capcom V.S. SNK Series, and of course, Dragon’s Dogma.

Despite being known to create smash-hit titles, Hideaki Itsuno’s Dragon’s Dogma was deeply an underrated work. You can just see from the face of Itsuno (during the announcement video) that he is extremely excited about the development of Dragon’s Dogma 2.
After Dragon’s Dogma’s unprecedented failure in the financial aspect, Capcom then released an upgraded version called Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen on April 23, 2013. Dark Arisen included a widely received expansion that was later available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
Before Capcom finally releases Dragon’s Dogma 2, why not relive the past and feel the nostalgia by re-playing Dragon’s Dogma? If you’re not feeling it, maybe watch the anime adaptation from Netflix?
