Moana now joins the ranks of 101 Dalmatians’ Cruella, Lilo & Stitch, and the upcoming The Little Mermaid in getting its own live-action adaptation. As confirmed by Dwayne in an Instagram post.
Disney’s new Moana Live-action Confirmed
- The Moana live-action movie was announced by the action superstar, Dwayne Johnson in a pre-recorded video from O’ahu, the home of Hawaii’s state capital, Honolulu.
- He shared this exciting news with a video of himself walking on the beach with his two daughters.
- The island and “the spirit” of Johnson’s grandfaher, which inspired the original Moana and the live-action film, are highlighted in the announcement video. The release date is yet to be announced.
Although the remakes have not lived up to their animated predecessors, they have been financially successful. Therefore, it’s not surprising that Disney is adapting the recent hit Moana into a live-action film.
Disney said in a press release that:
“Like its animated predecessor, the film will celebrate the islands, communities, and traditions of Pacific Islanders as seen through the eyes of a young woman eager to pave her own path.”
