The Owl House Ending Explained

“Where did she go?”. The Owl House left everyone in awe after the series finale “Watching and Dreaming”. With unexpected twists and revelations, the show found a great way to end the vile story of the magical lands of Boiling Isles. This article will explain The Owl House ending, so this means that this will be a major spoiler alert!

The Owl House Season 3 Episode 3: “Watching and Dreaming”

Once again, it is once again up to Luz, Eda, and King to save the day for the Boiling Isles. In the third episode of season 3 – which also happens to be the series finale – the show continues where the previous episode (For The Future) ended. After being held captive by a magical nightmare, Luz reunites with two of her closest friends in the Demon Realm, which she also treats as family. It has been a roller coaster ride for the trio as Eda and King were also imprisoned by the same magical trap. As it turns out, this has all been an impractical joke by the childish and mercurial entity, The Collector.

The Collector has a knack for playing games with others for fun, which sometimes creates a bad result. Luz, Eda, and King now realize it’s time to tell The Collector that they need to grow up and stop their childish acts. Although things are going well for the trio and the Collector, something bad is already happening to the Boiling Isles.

While The Collector is busy conversing with the trio, the evil emperor Belos has already managed to possess the heart of a titan, making him a more powerful entity.

Belos possessed Rain Whispers and tried to diver The Collector’s attention away from his plan to become one with a titan’s heart. His mission to eradicate all wizards and witches is getting closer to success with his newfound powers. Despite his evil plan, The Collector wanted to shine a light on Belos’ mind. Instead of accepting, the former witch hunter and now the ruler of Boiling Isles tried to kill The Collector from behind, but Luz came out of nowhere and took the hit. In a twist of events, the unimaginable happened. Luz didn’t know she was hit by Belos’ poison strikes, resulting in her untimely death. Slowly, Luz Noceda turned like a fungus while slowly vanishing into thin air.

Right after Luz’s demise, her new family (Eda and King) were both grieving heavily. Her death was enough to motivate them to kill Belos no matter what. It was then revealed that Luz landed in the “in-between realm” where she met Papa Titan, King’s father. Although Papa Titan is basically dead, he still overlooks King and his friends. Now, the clock is ticking. Even though an angry Eda turned ballistic against Belos, the evil emperor is slowly gaining full control of Boiling Isles with the help of the titan’s heart.

But, Papa Titan made his final heroic act – reviving Luz and giving her his powers.

Luz came back from the dead as a combination of a witch and a titan, making her a formidable foe for an overpowered Belos. Luz now has the ability to defeat Belos and she delivered, taking him out of the titan’s heart. Soon after, the day is saved, and everyone made it out alive. That includes Belos. As a last resort, Belos disguised himself in his human form, who we have known to be Philip, the witch hunter. As Belos (or Philip) is on his final trump card, Luz does not bother to even consider his tricks. Although she does not want to kill Belos with her own hands, she summoned the boiling rains through her titan powers, slowly killing Belos in the process. Shortly after, everyone was saved from the hands of the evil emperor and his ploy to destroy all of the witches in the realm.

The Owl House Finale: Was it good?

The series finale was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. It’s unfortunate that Disney quickly ended this show with its huge potential. The Owl House was an animated show, not just for kids, but for all ages. The poetic and ironic approach to the finale was so good that Luz’s death was a tear-jerker despite being a cartoon show.

Luz was able to conquer her fears, especially the fear of being inadequate in a world filled with magical entities. On the other hand, King’s real powers were revealed. Plus, the ending showed that everyone turned out fine. Well, expect Belos. Even though Disney axed The Owl House early, it still managed to end with a bang. However, fans are left wanting more. Another season, more backstories (especially the Archivists), and deeper explanations of some loose ends like Philip (Belos), Titans, and more.
