Ahmed Best, best known for his role as Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars franchise, made a surprise cameo in the latest episode of The Mandalorian, but not as his infamous Gungan character. Ahmed Best, the Jar Jar Binks Actor returns in The Mandalorian
- In the episode titled “The Foundling,” Best portrays Jedi knight Kelleran Beq, who rescues a young Grogu during the events of Order 66.
- Using his two lightsabers, Kellerman fights off clone troopers and enables Grogu to escape with him on a ship. While the episode does not reveal where they are headed, it leaves the door open for Best to potentially reappear in the future.
What was Jar Jar Binks all about?

After being rescued by Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), the Gungan named Jar Jar played a major role in the film. However, the character faced severe criticism from both fans and critics and had significantly smaller roles in the film’s two sequels.
- Jar Jar has been frequently cited as the worst character in Star Wars and criticized for his goofy appearance and personality. The character’s negative reception became so overwhelming that Best received death threats and even contemplated suicide.
What Ahmed Best had to say about The Star Wars Jar Jar Binks return
On social media, the actor expressed his gratitude, stating that he had much to share and that it would take a few days to do so. He also thanked those who supported him during his return to the Star Wars universe as Kelleran Beq.
This is not the first time Best played the character, as he previously appeared as Beq on the game show Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge and made a cameo as Achk Med-Beq in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

“The depression hit me. Hard. I was just broken. The only thing I could think of to make me feel better was to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. But this time when I walked across the bridge, I didn’t see the lights of Manhattan. I didn’t see the towers [or] the potential of hard work and ingenuity. I didn’t see anything; just saw a fog.”
“I felt tired of having to explain myself and tired of having to defend myself and defend my work. I felt tired of having to fight back against racism and the racial stereotypes. I just wanted to play a part. I was exhausted.”
Said Ahmed Best in the following interview.
Best’s message on social media hinted that Beq may make another appearance in The Mandalorian, particularly if Grogu’s backstory is further explored through flashbacks.
