Director Shely of Diablo 4 reveals the game length and level cap of this game as well as additional information on upgrades and the Paragon board. Blizzard Entertainment has officially revealed Diablo 4 during the Xbox Bethesda unveiling. The game isn’t due out until the first half of 2023, but a few details are starting to surface.
Diablo 4 – Game Length
Director Joe Shely announced the game’s main storyline will last around 35 hours in total in a new interview with GameSpot. By that time, he expects players to be around level 45. That’s a good length, but there’s a lot more to appreciate outside of the campaign.
“You’re able to travel anywhere in the world, make decisions about what you want to do, whether you want to pursue the campaign, which is a 35-hour experience that is just brimming with story and characters that are really human and you can really connect with on an emotional level, We’ve worked really hard on the campaign in Diablo 4 and we’re really proud of how it’s developing.” – Director Joe Shely
Diablo 4 – Level Cap
Your growth, however, will not be limited to that point. You’ll still be able to level up your toon to level 100. After which you’ll be able to access endgame content like nightmare dungeons and the new Tree of Whispers bounty system. As per Blizzard, this provides regularly cycling world objectives and bounties that can be done in exchange for rare crafting components and legendary items.
“You get access to whispers, you get access to nightmare dungeons and other endgame activities that we’re still working on, We really wanted you to have a wide variety of things to do. And of course, you’ve got world tiers that are allowing you to step up the keep, make sure that the difficulty of the world stays on pace with the power of your character level.” – Director Joe Shely
Paragon Board
Director Shely also talked about the Paragon board, which is a feature from Diablo 3 and Diablo Immortal that allows players to develop their characters further and deeper once they reach max level.

NOTE: The new Paragon board will only let you unlock enhancements that are linked to ones you’ve already purchased, which means you’ll have to pick a path for your character.
The Paragon board in Diablo 4 is not accessible until level 50. Although the exact rate at which you will earn Paragon points has yet to be verified, it is likely that you will earn one point every time you progress 25% through a new character level, for a total of four points each level. If you do the math, that means you’ll have unlocked 200 paragon points by the time you reach level 100, which you may use to improve your maxed-out character’s targeting, buffs, and other abilities.
