With every new expansion in Destiny 2, a new challenging opposition is introduced. Such is the case with Destiny 2 Lightfall. A brand new challenge in the form of an enemy appeared, Tormentors.

Bungie had promised that this expansion will bring an eventual end to the Light vs Darkness saga, and what better way to do it than go up against an enemy that uses darkness itself? In this guide, let us know what a Tormentor is and how to kill it easily.

What is a Tormentor in Destiny 2?

Among the premium adversaries of each expansion, Destiny 2 Lightfall brings you the Tormentors. The Tormentors are massive in size and come at you with a giant scythe while using darkness to attack you.

Even the mere sight of them shivers the bones of players. Not to mention the absolute magnanimity of the Tormentors, they do not look to stop until you are dead, and in the Legendary difficulty, it is hard to dodge their grab attack having one-shot potential.

The Tormentors have an attack set of four, one of which is almost impossible to dodge. The known attack moves are as follows:

  • Scythe shooting
  • Scythe slam attack
  • Charge attack
  • Draining (Grab attack)

How to deal with the Tormentors in Destiny 2 Lightfall?

While these relentless beings are very hard to deal with even at lower difficulty levels, there are a bunch of tools handy that can help you beat them.

Look for the glow

Just like Rhulk, the raid boss from the Vow of Disciples in the Witch Queen expansion, Tormentors too have glowing parts in their armors. Once you notice such weak spots in a Tormentor’s armor, damage those parts to deal the maximum amount of damage.

However, these weak spots do change after taking a certain amount of damage. So, make sure to keep an eye out for when the spots change and repeat the process.

Distance is your friend

Tormentors can use charge attacks to easily close gaps and catch up to you. They take a lower stance for a split second before attacking, thus it is very hard to dodge. And if they grab hold of you, Tormentors will surely use darkness to drain the life out of you. So, it is advisable to keep your fair share of distance from them.

Use of Stasis

Using Stasis against such fast-moving enemies can help you finish the fight with minimal damage taken. Not only will freezing them give you some breathing room, but also will help you deal damage while the Tormentor remains immobile.

Draining can be utilized

When a Tormentor catches up to one of the guardians and starts draining them, they will go immobile allowing you to deal a massive amount of damage. While this is a hazard for the player being drained by the Tormentor, it is also very beneficial for others to shoot down the weak spots of the enemy.

Other methods

One big thing that can help you deal with the Tormentors is that when low on health, the finisher sign will appear on their heads. When it happens, do not fail to pounce on the opportunity and deal with the enemy once and for all.

Tormentors will usually look to suppress you from using abilities, so at such times, weapons are your only friends. Combine all the methods mentioned above to gain the most out of the situation. Even the use of Strand introduced in Destiny 2 Lightfall helps you deal with the Tormentors.
