Before officially jumping into the world of Dead Island 2 and slashing your way through a Los Angeles riddled with zombies, you may want to get to know the characters and their skills first. Similar to the first game, players can choose who they want to play as in the game. Each of the six characters in Dead Island 2 have their own unique skills, so here’s a complete list! Dead Island 2 gives us six characters to play as

In the first game, we could only play with four characters while finishing the main story quests. However, the devs have kicked it up a notch in the sequel and are giving us six characters to choose from. Each of the six characters in Dead Island 2 have their own skills you can use to make gunning down zombies more enjoyable.

They even have their own backstories which would explain why they’re hacking their way through Los Angeles during the zombie apocalypse. Here are all six characters you can play as in Dead Island 2, as well as their skills and other things you should know about them.

Characters and skills

Amy

Before the zombie apocalypse hit Los Angeles, Amy used to be a Paralympian. This explains her competitive nature and drive to win under any circumstances. Now that she’s caught in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, she does whatever it takes to survive and fight off the flesh-eating monsters who terrorize the city.

Oddly enough, Amy has found a way to make fighting zombies in Dead Island 2 interesting: she loves the excitement that comes with hacking and slashing these zombies.

So far, this is what we know about the skills of this Dead Island 2 character:

• Relief Pitcher – After successfully hitting a zombie with a weapon throw, Amy regains her stamina
• Divide & Conquer – When Amy attacks a zombie that’s isolated from the others, she gets a minor damage boost that will be useful in fighting off against hordes

Jacob

You might have already seen this character on the cover art for Dead Island 2. A little bit of background on him is he actually hails from London. Prior to the zombie apocalypse, Jacob left his job as a stockbroker and became a stuntman to pursue his dreams. Unfortunately for him, he ended up in Los Angeles just as the zombie apocalypse started.

Here are this character’s skills in Dead Island 2:

• Feral – If you manage to deliver a chain of attacks on enemies, Jacob gets a minor damage boost which can be stacked
• Critical Gains – When Jacob’s stamina runs low, he gets a critical damage boost. If you are able to land critical hits while in this state, Jacob regains his stamina

Dani

Another character of European descent in Dead Island 2 is Dani, a roller skater from Ireland. When she left her job in retail to join a roller derby team, she ended up coming to the United States and getting stuck in Los Angeles.

Despite the threat of the zombie apocalypse, Dani is still optimistic that she will make it out of Los Angeles alive. Her reason? Her roller derby team has a match coming up and she does not want to miss it.

Here are Dani’s skills in Dead Island 2:

• Bloodlust – If you are able to consecutively kill zombies, Dani regains health
• Thunderstruck – By using Dani’s heavy attacks, they can trigger powerful explosion on impact

• Spitting Cobra – Dani has the ability to spit acid and damage zombies in front of her

Ryan

Ryan is a male stripper who looks like a tough cookie to break with his intimidating aura. However, underneath the tough exterior he puts up is a man who just wants to get home to his family. When the zombie outbreak happened, Ryan got stuck in Los Angeles while his little brother was in Fresno.

Below are this character’s skills in Dead Island 2:

• Retaliation – When using block or dodge to counter enemy attacks, Ryan gets a force boost
• Seesaw – Every time Ryan successfully knocks down a zombie, he regains health

Carla

Another badass among the characters in Dead Island 2 is Carla, a motorcycle stuntwoman who doesn’t let a zombie apocalypse faze her. With her street smarts, Carla is definitely on a mission to make the zombie-infested Los Angeles her playground.

Here are Carla’s skills in Dead Island 2:

• Dig Deep – When her health is running low, Carla gains a toughness boost that helps her fight against zombies
• Mosh Pit – When she’s close to multiple zombies, Carla’s damage receives a small boost

Bruno

Bruno is a big-time criminal prior to the zombie apocalypse, hustling and scamming his way into putting money in his pockets. Having grown up in Los Angeles, Bruno certainly knows his way around and uses his charm to get what he wants. Of course, don’t forget about his knife skills he’s picked up and developed over the years.

Here are Bruno’s skills in Dead Island 2:

• Backstab – If you attack zombies from behind, Bruno’s damage is moderately boosted
• Rapid Reprisal – By successfully blocking or dodging attacks, you can boost Bruno’s agility and heavy attack charges

Los Angeles is your playground, and these six characters are on your side. By experimenting and trying out all the characters, you can find whoever you’re most comfortable playing as.
