Despite leaving the franchise, DCEU fans still hold director Zack Snyder close to their hearts but it seems like things are changing due to his recent comments on Amber Heard. The 57-year-old filmmaker recently expressed his support for the controversial actress which has clearly not landed well among his fans. As a result, heated debate has ensued on social media platforms like X (Twitter). Let’s find out more on the issue.
Zack Snyder expresses support for Amber Heard
Amber Heard’s career took a massive blow in recent years following her highly publicized defamation trial involving ex-husband and Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp. The case ended mostly in favor of Depp and the Aquaman actress quickly fell out of public favor due to her alleged lies in court.
Zack Snyder has been dismayed to see Amber Heard suffer online abuse: “I just don’t get it. If other people don’t like her, I don’t know what to say. I would work with her in a second" https://t.co/Ymon590vVH pic.twitter.com/mM5nINH1vu

More than a year after the verdict, Zack Snyder opened up about his thoughts on the controversial actress in a recent interview. The Rebel Moon director said that he does not understand the online backlash against Amber Heard and that he would still work with her ‘in a second’ even if other people don’t want to.
Notably, Snyder introduced Heard to the DC universe as Mera, the princess of Xebel and Aquaman AKA Arthur Curry’s love interest in the movies. She went on to play the role in Justice League and both standalone Aquaman films including the upcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Social media reactions from DC fans
Ever since the defamation lawsuit, fans have openly called for Amber Heard’s exit from the DCEU. In fact, the trailer and promotional material for Aquaman 2 barely feature the actress. Now, DC fans seem taken aback that one of their franchise’s landmark directors has defended Heard.
You’re happy he wants to work with known abuser after she was blacklisted in Hollywood?

The real question is in which of his 5 upcoming film projects Zack Snyder cast Amber Heard.
Remember: one can say anything. Actions, however, speak louder than words.
Heard's supporters can fuss over Snyder's quote like an old hen, but the truth is he didn't cast her in anything pic.twitter.com/Our6KkqzMg— 🤔 (@Polly01001011) November 30, 2023
Zack snyder also showed support to ezra miller in the same interview ummm

What shocked them more is that Snyder revealed that he still keeps in touch with most of his DC actors including Ezra Miller who played The Flash. Like Heard, Miller too has been a subject of major controversy due to his involvement in numerous public scandals and mental health struggles.
I just find it funny that these other directors are scared to even say Amber Heard's name and meanwhile Zack Snyder straight up says "I don't know what their problem is, id work with her again in a second"

One of the only public figures that has expressed vocal support and created professional opportunities for Amber Heard, and he still continues to! We need more people in the system like Zack Snyder. https://t.co/7BygSkKJUx

However, some fans agreed with Snyder and admitted that Amber Heard’s job opportunities in acting should not be affected by her personal life. Others criticized him for supporting the actress without learning sufficient information from the accusations leveled against her.
