Chapter 10 of Daydream: Forgotten Sorrow includes the Smelting Factory puzzle. In this guide, we’ll give you tips on how to solve it, including an achievement to add to your collection.

Your next destination is up
- Grab onto the yellow part of the giant rotating gear. This will take you one floor up. Head east and finish the mini puzzle. Simply turn on both switches to open the door. Keep going east until the next cutscene.
- Take the yellow boot found next to the shed with the generator. Throw it to the switch inside the room. You can now make your way forward by heading onto the metal way where the boxes are heading.
The next puzzle can be tricky, but with the right timing, you should be okay. There’s no “right” way to complete this area, as each player has different timings. But we’ll give you some tips to guide your next move.
- Jump down to the rotating gear and duck. Grab the switch as soon as you’re below it. This will reverse the belts you’re standing on. Go back to the west and then jump down one level. Then, move forward and grab the next switch.
- You will need to time your movements properly here. P pausing briefly before moving to the next Space works best for me. In the very last level, use LShift + Space so your jump will be enough to move past the small gears on the floor. And again, timing.
Smelting Factory Puzzle
- The first step is to get a metal piece to smelt it and create a gear that will fit on the mechanism. You’ll need this to be able to use the elevator.
- To find the piece, keep going west until you come across the elevator. You can remove the existing gear and place it in the melting pot.
- Next, grab the moulding pot with the yellow handle and move it to the right. You will notice that the melting pot will move with it. Grab the yellow lever once the above melting pot is safe enough to lower it.
- Place the metal gear onto the melting pot. After that, grab the yellow level again and move the pot to the heating station and lower it down.
- Next, pull it up and move the pot toward your screen (south). Once at the edge, use the yellow level again to lower the melting pot. Grab the moulding pot and move it forward (north).
- Then, bring the melting pot up. Grab the moulding pot and drag it east, just enough so the pot above is parallel to the brick wall in front and then lower it down again.
- Move the moulding pot to the west and then halfway south. After which, bring the melting pot up once more. Move the pots forward (north) until they are parallel.
- Then to the east until they are on top of each other. Then, grab the yellow level to pour the melted metal onto the moulding pot.
- Next, move the moulding pot east so it’s in front of the yellow pipe with the red pull switch and jump and grabs it. This will cure the metal gear. Now all that’s left to do is move the moulding pot to the west and then south to drop the gear you need.
Bottle Achievement Guide
Grab the furnace door on the east of the elevator. This should spit out a few items, including a red valve switch.
Take it and return to the western part of the map, near the ladder where you came in. Place the valve switch there and turn it off.
Go west and jump across the pipes to find a firefly for the Achievement.
