The issue of the possibility of Damian Lillard getting traded has been in the headlines for weeks now. The team that has the highest chance of landing him and is also the most interested in Lillard is the Miami Heat. The Heat can offer a lot of great players in exchange for Dame and could potentially be a huge threat for the championship next year. However, the Portland Trailblazers don’t seem to be answering any calls from Miami. But, just recently, Damian Lillard and Jimmy Butler had fans wondering after they posted subtle hints on Instagram, suggesting Dame’s transfer to Miami. The 32-year-old superstar had the Blazers fans in shambles after seemingly hinting about a trade to Miami. During his IG live on Saturday, Damian Lillard was just having fun in a nightclub in Paris, but what really was surprising is the background music. The song is no other than Will Smith’s hit song “Miami”. Everybody can clearly hear in the background, “Welcome to Miami, Welcome to Miami”. With the Miami Heat’s extreme interest in him, is Lillard just trolling his fans?

However, it was confirmed that Dame had no intention of doing so. He didn’t pick the song, but rather, the DJ at the venue put it on to have a laugh.

Well, it didn’t take long for Jimmy Butler to respond to Damian Lillard. In Jimmy’s IG stories, he adds more fuel to the fire by posting a screenshot of Damian Lillard’s Moneyball song. This created a lot of buzz on the internet and fans just can’t wait for Dame to join the Heat.

According to Woj, the Miami Heat is the most likely team that could trade for Damian Lillard
The Portland Trailblazers were bad in the 2022-2023 season despite Damian Lillard playing exceptionally by putting up a career-high 32.2 points per game average. Because of that, the Blazers managed to secure the third pick in the 2023 NBA draft which they used to get Scoot Henderson. It’s obvious that the organization has been trying to provide Damian Lillard with key pieces to win in the West, but that never happened in Dame’s 11-season run with the team. Previously, they have been firm on trying to trade that third pick and flip it for a star they could pair with Lillard.
However, just recently, after the Miami Heat lost in the NBA Finals, Damian Lillard’s name comes up again as one of the hottest players the Heat could pursue in the offseason. Even Dame hinted that he wants to join the Miami Heat and play alongside All-Defensive center Bam Adebayo. He did, however, jokingly had a condition that he will only join Miami if they don’t win in the 2023 NBA championship. Well, they didn’t, so does this mean we’re going to see Dame Time in Miami?

Heat receive: Damian Lillard
Trailblazers receive: Tyler Herro, Max Strus, Caleb Martin, Nikola Jovic, a 2023 First Round pick, and a 2026 First Round pick
With this trade, the Miami Heat gets a superstar point guard with Lillard who is definitely an upgrade to the Heat’s roster. Meanwhile, Dame finally gets out of Portland and will enjoy being a contender once again. On the other hand, the Trailblazers, now in rebuild mode, get a rising star in Tyler Herro as well as reliable players like Caleb Martin and Max Struss to team with third-overall pick, Scoot Henderson.
