Cyberpunk 2077 In Its Final, Most Intense Stage Of Development

Cyberpunk 2077

Update: CD Projekt Red has teased a Cyberpunk 2077 Hands-On event (or something) for June. We speculate it could be new gameplay. Check out the full details here.

In yesterday’s financial reports, CD Projekt Red mentioned the status of Cyberpunk 2077’s development and confirmed that the game is in its final stage of development.

CD Projekt Red wrote –

“CD PROJEKT RED is carrying out with the final stage of development of its most expansive RPG to-date: Cyberpunk 2077. The game features a vibrant, high-tech open world, where players assume the role of V – a cyberpunk who has recently migrated to the most dangerous metropolis of the future: Night City. Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay follows the rules of the Cyberpunk 2020 RPG system created by Mike Pondsmith.”

Talking about the company’s increased Expenditure on development projects, CDPR wrote, “This increase is mainly due to ongoing development of Cyberpunk 2077, which has entered its final, most intensive pre-release development phase.”

Now, why is this a confirmation? Isn’t it obvious? Well, actually, no. When games are not on schedule, developers keep quiet. The confirmation that Cyberpunk 2077 is in its final stage simply means that the game won’t be delayed any further. And that’s a great thing.

We still have three and a half months before we get to dive into the world of Night City. So, we can expect CD Projekt Red to finish the game’s development by mid-August. That’s the time period most games go gold.

We’ll hear more about Cyberpunk 2077 on June 11, during the Night City Wire event. CD Projekt Red has given us no details whatsoever, so only time will tell what they have prepared for us.

The company’s all-time best-selling series, Witcher, has surpassed 50 million copies sold. Although Geralt’s story is over, CDPR will continue making games and experiences around the Witcher universe focusing on different characters and storylines.

Cyberpunk 2077 comes out for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia on September 17. The game is confirmed for Xbox Series X, while we aren’t sure about its PS5 release.
