There’s already a plethora of information about the game. Press-Start, an Australian games media outlet, spoke to Toys For Bob Co-Studio Head, Paul Yan about the game. Yan said Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is a “true sequel” to 1998’s Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped.
That’s right, this is a mainline entry and a sequel with 22 years of gap. Huh, not long enough, right?
“Technically, this is the eighth game in the series, but we very deliberately called this Crash 4 to position this as a true sequel to the first three games that were developed by Naughty Dog,” Yan said. “We think it’s because there was something really special about those first three games and it was certainly a high point in the series, and it was reflected both critically and commercially.”
Yan also explains why they’re calling the game “It’s About Time”. He says, “Our game is called It’s About Time and yes, it’s sort of a play on words, in the sense that it’s been so long since we’ve seen a new original title.”
Yan even went on to describe more about the story of the game. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time follows the event of CB3. Neo Cortex, Dr. Entropy, and Uka Uka have finally managed to escape the distant planet they were stranded on. In the effort of doing so, they ripped a giant hole in the universe, which has opened a pathway for a multiverse. In order to restore balance to this multiverse, Crash and Coco must reunite and reassemble the four Quantum Masks.
Yan talked about two masks in his interview with Press-Start. He said we’ll learn more about the other masks and features of the game at a later time.
There’s more to Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, all of which, we’ll be posting regularly.
