Squid Game, the social drama on Netflix, has become a common topic nowadays. The show debuted in September and has caught the attention of viewers around the world. The gaming community had also taken note of the trending show and gamers had tried to recreate aspects of the show in games, such as in Fortnite, where the Red Light, Green Light had been recreated by content creators.
Crab Game
- While there is no official game that is based on the popular show till now, a multiplayer knockoff has been released. This game, called Crab Game, was released on Steam toward the end of October and has in fact become a popular game.
- Its appeal lies in the fact that it is basically multiplayer that emulates Squid Game, with its series of games that are identical to the ones in the show, and new ones as well. It is also a free game.
- The game is developed by Dani, a Norwegian developer, who had recently released Muck, which also became popular on Steam.
- The game has already taken off on Steam, with more than 35,000 players.
- It has recorded an all-time peak of 56,042, and at the time of writing, had a 24-hour peak of 48,353.
The Games
Some of the games from the series, such as Red Light, Green Light, and the glass bridge game have been replicated in Crab Game. However, some of the games, such as marbles and ppopgi, would not be suitable for an online multiplayer. They have been replaced by other games like Hide and Seek, King of the Hill and the Floor is Lava.
Players will have to create a lobby or join an existing one. After which, they will compete in a continuous series of games until only one player is left. If a player is eliminated in any round, they will explode. They will only be able to watch the game in that particular lobby, and they can leave to join another one if they want to.
