Who wouldn’t know Chris Hemsworth? Well, probably some would know him and address him with his Marvel portrayal of God of Thunder, Thor. Unfortunately, Chris may have revealed something personal and something fearful. In the fifth episode of his Disney+ series, Limitless, the actor met up with a doctor then knew that he has a genetic predisposition for Alzheimer’s disease. Now, with the Alzheimer’s scare present, will Chris Hemsworth be back?
Chris Hemsworth’s “Limitless”
Before going straight to the question if the Thor actor would be back, let’s first talk about his latest series, ‘Limitless’. It is a National Geographic series aired on Disney+ that talks about how humans can live a better and longer life. The docuseries is taking on physical challenges like climbing skyscrapers or crane walking with Hemsworth doing them all.
- However, the fifth episode revealed the “biggest fear” of the 39-year-old actor. With the genetic tests he took in the series, it appeared that his makeup consists of two copies of gene APOE4. This gene was studied before and linked to an increased chance and risk of Alzheimer’s disease. The two copies of his gene APOE4 came from his mother, and the other from his father, respectively.

- The ‘Limitless’ docuseries aims to find a different way to live better for longer. A series where we’ll know the fascinating superpowers of the human body and what can we do to fight illness, and perform better despite the aging process. According to Disney+ Originals, “Entertaining, immersive and life-changing, ‘Limitless’ will rewrite the rulebook on living better for longer“.

The acceptance stage
The two copies of the said gene find Hemsworth to have a higher chance of being impacted by the disease. Also, this scare isn’t news to the Australian actor. He said in a Vanity Fair exclusive interview, “It’s not a pre-deterministic gene, but it is a strong indication“. Chris Hemsworth’s Alzheimer’s disease may have been thought of 10 years ago, and he said he thought of it as a predeterminant.
- The longevity doctor in charge in the fifth episode, Dr. Peter Attia called the show director Darren Aronofsky telling him that he can’t tell Chris the news on camera. The doctor then proceeded to contact Chris about the news, which the actor timely shared with his parents and family who were with him at that time.

- It makes eight to 10 times more likely to develop the disease, according to Dr. Attia. This would lead us back to his genes, Chris Hemsworth apparently has a grandfather who is battling Alzheimer’s up to the present. Moreover, he mentioned in the series that he wasn’t completely surprised by the sudden news.
- Vanity Fair mentions that the situation may have been unsettling for him, Hemsworth says:
Most of us, we like to avoid speaking about death in the hope that we’ll somehow avoid it. We all have this belief that we’ll figure it out. Then to all of a sudden be told some big indicators are actually pointing to this as the route which is going to happen, the reality of it sinks in. Your own mortality. – Chris Hemsworth
Will he be back?
After the press tour of the series, Chris Hemsworth shares that he would take some time off acting. The break would not be the end of his career or resignation for him, he clears that out. Furthermore, he mentions that he remains completely open to being back as Thor.
- Chris Hemsworth takes this time off to be with his kids and his wife, Elsa Pataky. Additionally, he shares that he avoids this condition or situation to manipulate or overdramatize it. But if people see this as a motivator to better care for themselves, then this would be fantastic, the Thor actor says.

We hope to see Thor in the near future once again!
