Celine Dion has been battling stiff-person syndrome for about a year now after being diagnosed with the illness in 2022. As her health condition is reportedly progressing, the iconic singer’s sister, Claudette Dion, revealed she has already lost control of her muscles, limiting her body movements.
Celine Dion’s Sister Gives Health Update about the Iconic Singer
In an interview with 7 Jours translated by E! News from French, Claudette revealed that Celine Dion can no longer control certain body movements. But knowing how disciplined her sibling is, seeing her in this condition breaks her heart.
“What breaks my heart is that she’s always been disciplined,” she said. “She’s always worked hard.”
She even revealed how their mom would often tell Celine that she would do it well and properly. But everything has now changed due to her health issue.
Claudia added that they aim to see the Canadian singer return to the stage. However, they have no idea how to do it now.
According to Claudette, their other sister, Linda, is living with Celine in Las Vegas, as the latter receives care from doctors specializing in stiff-person syndrome.
Celine Dion Canceling Her Courage World Tour
Despite her desire to return to performing on stage again, Celine Dion had to cancel her Courage World Tour in May due to her rare neurological disorder. This disease causes painful muscle spasms and stiffness.
In a post on Instagram, the 55-year-old apologized to her awaiting fans for needing to cancel her show. “I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again,” she said. “I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%.”

Celine found it unfair to fans if she would only keep postponing the shows. So, even if the decision had broken her heart, she knew it was best to cancel it altogether until she was fully ready to return on stage again.
Celine Dion Makes a Rare Public Appearance with Her Kids
Meanwhile, despite focusing on her health, Celine Dion made a rare public appearance to attend the Montreal Canadiens’ fight against the Vegas Golden Knights at Sin City’s T-Mobile Arena on October 30.
The Queen of Power Ballads was alongside her kids, René-Charles, 22, and the twins Nelson and Eddy, 13, whom she shares with her late husband, René Angélil.
The Grammy winner and her kids visited the Canadiens in their locker room after the game, as she told coach Martin St. Louis, as translated into English, that it was an honor to meet him. “It was an incredible night,” she said.
She also advised the athletes, saying, “Just stay healthy, strong…do what you do best.”
Despite a serious battle with stiff-person syndrome, Celine Dion is showing a brave face, trying to live a normal life as much as possible by recently joining her kids in an outing. Despite the seriousness of her health condition, she still expresses her interest in performing in front of her fans, proving singing and live performing have always been her life and passion. Everyone is looking forward to seeing the hitmaker win against her condition and return to the stage again.
