BPL 2022, the most recent T20 league is currently going on. There is always something interesting that happens in a T20 game a brilliant catch or run out can change within a few minutes.
You might have seen runouts with bats in the air even after reaching the crease. But this is nothing compared to Andre Russell’s run out in the BPL 2022. Coincidently this runout happened on the very first day.
In the second match of the season, Khulna Tigers (KLT) and Minister Group Dhaka (MGD) were face to face.
In the 15th over of Dhaka’s innings, Andre Russell tried to steal a run off Thisara Perera’s delivery. Mahedi Hasan, standing at the third man, threw the ball rapidly towards the striker’s end. The ball hit the stumps directly but by then Mahmudullah had reached the crease.
The interesting thing was that this ball, after hitting the striker end’s stump, also entered the non-striker end’s stump. Andre Russell was away from the crease by then. The fielders made a strong appeal and West Indies’ dashing all-rounder Russell had to return to the pavilion.

Everyone on the field was stunned to see the most bizarre run-out ever. I have never seen this type of runout ever. When I saw it for the first time I couldn’t help but laugh.

However, after this shocking run out of Andre Russell in this BPL match, his team scored 183 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In response, KLT won by 5 wickets with one over remaining. So we can see that run-outs can also change the game.
