BLACKPINK Has No Security? Fans Concerned Over Group’s Airport Situation

The past few days have been nothing but bliss and pride for BLACKPINK and their fandom, BLINKs. But the celebration was paused last November 23, when BLACKPINK returned to South Korea. In case you missed it, people were wondering if BLACKPINK has no security, or is very much limited, as they were swarmed by the public at the Incheon Airport. Here’s what we know and what fans had to say about the concerning event.

BLACKPINK Members & Security versus The Crowd

After their surprising attendance at the Korean State Banquet hosted by King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, there was another historic event for the four-member girl group. They have also received the MBE Honors for their years of support and voice for environmental sustainability and their climate change advocacy. This has been all over news headlines and social media this week, and we are nothing but proud of BLACKPINK.

However, their stay in London, UK was not that long, as the three members, Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé returned to South Korea on November 23, 2023. Lisa may have a few more schedules in Paris, as she was not with the other three. All was well when the three BLACKPINK members arrived at the Incheon Airport. The press even caught their visuals and airport fashion, but after a while, the three seemed to blend into the huge crowd of people who also just returned from their respective flights.

The situation seemed to worsen as when the bodyguards came to the BLACKPINK members, the fans and media hurriedly swarmed the three K-pop idols. BLACKPINK did have their bodyguards as security, but apparently, it wasn’t enough to control the huge airport crowd.

  • This problem had come up recently, specifically when the contract renewal news was out. During their flight schedules a month ago or two, Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa had no bodyguards escorting them. Meanwhile, Rosé had hers when she arrived at the airport to fly to her schedule. This sparked discussions that the three may not have renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment, while the latter remained with the agency. In the meantime, fans still have to wait for YG’s official statement regarding the contracts of BLACKPINK.

The videos showed the limited space for the members to move. The people and the press weren’t kind and understanding enough to give Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé their personal spaces, hence invading them still. At one point, Jisoo even got separated from the two members, and it was clear that they were uncomfortable with the airport situation.

BLINKs React to the Airport Situation

A lot mentioned how the Pinks need to have more bodyguards when they are at the airport. It’s unimaginable how uneasy the three are feeling, given a small space to move. It’s a relief that the three got to their respective cars safely.

Some fans decided to use memes to show their outrage at the almost stampede incident at the Incheon Airport, saying they would’ve used force to stop those who came into the private spaces of the Pinks. While some addressed how rude the people are for disrespecting the members’ spaces.

It’s obvious that Jennie isn’t comfortable with the people closely surrounding her and them. While she still managed to wave and get letters from their fans, it’s saddening and maddening to see how she tried to hide herself from the flashes and the concerning situation.

Giving idols their private spaces and not swarming them isn’t that hard to follow. Sure, we all know how exciting it is to see your faves around the area you’re in, but invading their personal spaces shouldn’t be tolerated nor normalized. We also hope that with these incidents, airport security could lend a hand in preventing this kind of fiasco.
