Australian Cricket Legend, Shane Warne Passes Away At 52

The Australian cricket legend and iconic leg spinner Shane Warne dies on Friday at the age of 52. A heart attack is suspected to be the cause of death. As per reports, his management said he was found unresponsive at his villa and could not be revived. His management also confirmed that Warne passed away in Thailand.

“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” Warne’s management confirmed in a statement to Australian media.

“The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course,” the statement added.

Shane Keith Warne was an Australian cricketer.

He was a mysterious spinner in the cricketing world. Warne played his first Test match in 1992 and took over 1,000 international wickets second to this milestone after Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan.

When he used to bowl, batsmen were forced to dance on the crease. Warne’s 708 Test wickets was the record for the most wickets taken by any bowler in Test cricket. However, it was broken by Muralitharan on 3 December 2007.

  • He retired from international cricket in January 2007 at the end of Australia’s 5–0 Ashes series victory over England.
  • Warne also played in IPL for Rajasthan Royals. He played the roles of both captain and coach. He led Royal to victory against the Chennai Super Kings in the final of the 2008 season.

Awards

  • In 2012, he was also inducted into the Cricket Hall of Fame by Cricket Australia. Moreover,  in 2013, Warne was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
  • Shane Warne was a Legend; he took Australia to the next level. This is a great loss for the Australian Cricket.
