The latest issue of Game Informer’s Magazine gave us a deeper look at the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and there’s a lot of new information to swallow. One of them is the vision behind the game’s quest design.

Speaking to GameInformer, Valhalla’s producer Julien Laferrière has revealed that every quest starts and ends in the game’s settlement called Ravensthrope. This type of story structure resembles a flower where the quest starts and ends at the settlement but pans out like a petal for exploration, raids, and meeting different characters. He says,” Everything starts at the heart of the game, which is the settlement, You pledge to a given quest arc, you do that quest arc. Through that series of stories you venture into a territory of the game, meet some interesting characters, and then you come back to your settlement.”
While we do not know currently how all of this will pan out, this does confirm that the game’s settlement system is more important than it initially seemed. And that every major decision in the game’s story arc will be about improving and expanding the settlement. We do know that Ravensthrope will gradually increase in scope and size once Eivor gains more allies throughout the game’s story, just like was the case in Dragon Age Inquisition. It would be interesting to see if Ubisoft manages to make Ravensthrope as lively and dynamic as that of Skyhold in Inquisition.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla launches for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia on November 10 while the PS5 version hit the shelves on November 12, 2020
